One Yeti's Perspective 1-31-18: Inferiority?

Through wonderful conversations with many people I started to notice something.
When someone mentions doing something different like homesteading or eating vegan, people seem to get defensive.
Not angry, well sometimes, but certainly act differently. I wonder if it is because we feel like we could be doing something "better".
Are the ideas inside of us for self improvement and if we don't act on it...do we actually get upset when someone else is doing it?

Yep! People are threatened by the fact that they may have to change, and they are resistant to change. This stands true for anything people do to improve themselves, not just vegetarian. And usually the ones most threatened by it are those closest to us. :(. I just love them and understand their attitude isn't personal about me, it's about them.
Yeah, its pretty hard. I love people, and I don't like that they feel defensive.
This bullying at its truest. People fear different. They are comfortable in there own self and when confronted with true change... well we all know the rest of the story.
People do fear different. There are reasons we all do or don't live in certain places. I am not saying I am beyond being nervous, I am trying to not be.
My wife and I were just talking about this. Same is true when you talk about homeschooling. People can get extremely defensive. Great video as usual.
Yeah, it is pretty amazing. We get in our own heads and project it in each other. We all live different lives based on choices....if we don't like something....we make different choices 🙃
I think people can get defensive because of a stigma or stereotype associated with whatever lifestyle is being discussed, and maybe not the person who is sharing their lifestyle. I think people can get too focused with placing labels they can easily understand onto others, rather than listen to the story the person has. I blame all those internet memes! :P
