A Van Full Of Mulch?
Everyday is an adventure when you live with Stacie D (@freedomtowrite). Things can go from zero to sixty pretty quickly. That is exactly what happened today.
So there I was just minding my business, taking a break from building the chicken coop, and working online a bit. I was thinking about all of the little projects that we have and what I would do next.
When we have many irons in the fire, each on requires different things at different times. One of our projects is to turn a piece of the back yard into an awesome garden.
So I was sitting there minding my business when Stacie D jumped right into it. She started asking what I was thinking about, and I could tell that she was ready for some adventure. (If not big doses, atleast little ones!)
Before I knew it we were outside gathering buckets and totes and shovels. We were going to go find garden mulch!
We met a guy that has a huge pile of mulch, and he said we could take as much as we would like. Now, I know the benefits of a deep mulched garden....this guy pretty much said that he had gold bars sitting there and we just had to come get it haha.
After a short 20 minute drive, we found this pile of beauty. It is about two feet deep, and about fifteen feet across. We dove right in, and loaded all we could carry.

I think I may make a few more trips out there though. Since we are turning grass into garden without tilling, we need to choke out the grass. We are thinking about conditioning the soil where the plant will be, and then surrounding it with cardboard and shredded paper, and topping it with mulch. This should give some nice coverage, water retention, and weed control.

I love that I am getting to share our adventure with you all each step of the way!
Be well

Nice find! Ive hauled mulch around as well. And old hay to grow spuds in.
I bought a bunch of plastic containers and stack them in my truck until there is no room. I even had them strapped to my roof a few times.. hehe
Nice! It seems like I always end up hauling INSIDE our rig haha. I recently got more mulch and some metal for yhe chicken coop roof....inside haha
