The Modern Human Animal | our place in history

I woke up this morning with the idea of humans. I start the day with checking out some media. Some news, and some social medias. I look through Steemit, Dtube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. I take it all in...I take in...humans.

I was talking with Stacie D about how the future will look back on our time now. On our place in history, and how we are remembered. When they look back at us now It won't look like a dark age per se, but it will certainly look like a regression in human evolution (if you believe in that). We are the modern human animal.....

There are many advances that will be noticed. Technology has made amazing leaps in just the past 40 years. I can't however believe that technology has actually helped us at all. Just because I own a smart phone and know how to mash the screen with my Yeti paw doesn't make me any more intelligent...I didn't invent the friggin' thing!

I also have not played a role in the development of the internet, television, or any other technological break through. What about our food? Having a family member that works in the field of developing animal feed, I have a good grasp on how the vitamins and minerals are manipulated to produce the most optimal feed, and ultimately the "best" animal. If you look at any ingredient list at the grocery store...it looks exactly the same. We are fed a list of vitamins and minerals because we want to optimize the human animal.

We know from history that the history books are written by those who won the war. We may not have a well documented experience from the side of the "loser", but we do have a reflection of every culture around the world that is being passed to generation after generation.

With the development of this amazing technology, we have become one giant mass. We are slowly erasing the culture of generations past, and continue to develop a new culture of " I am me, who cares".

We no longer see people getting dressed up to go to town. We see grocery shopping in pajamas. We no longer see people getting dressed up to go to the theater, instead we see gym cloths. Because who cares! Am I right?!

I believe that we are steadily moving into a place for unconscious existence. We are acting and doing, but we aren't really living. Our experiences are superficial, just like our digital relationships.

History will look back on us like a painting of humans drooling as we follow the soft gentle glow of a screen into a pasture. We are...the modern human animal.
