Ultraviolet fluorescence photography experiment #3
It would appear pollen is collecting on the outside petals, giving them a slight glitter. May be something else but thats my opinion.
Positioning the blacklight within a few degrees of the flower got amazing results.
Below the pictures I experimented cutting out infrared contamination the best I could. The articles and pages online state that cheap blacklights give off some infrared light. My LED blacklight would be considered cheap. So using my only Ultraviolet passthrough filter I tried out a B+W 403 nm filter.
The first thing I noticed is the shutter times drastically increased to about 2 minutes including noise reduction. Which was really boring honestly. I like the look of the photos, but I think going with no filter (full spectrum) looks alot cooler with blacklights. I think ill stick to full spectrum for my blacklight photos for now.
Hope you liked my photos, and protect yourself if your going to use blacklights. Read up on the importance of UV/IR protective glasses and protecting your skin from UV radiation when using UV and IR emitting light sources.

The flowers are very beautifully illuminated by Ultraviolet, a very creative idea, like I've seen flowers like that but do not know where.

Agreed, glad I tried it out. So far my camera has been doing great in low light shots like my starry cottage photos or other dark shots. So these turned out great too. You may have seen another kind of Jasmine called "Confederate Jasmine" Its white and has a heavy fragrance.

Its possible its only in the US, Im guessing the name comes from the Carolina's north of me, South Carolina and North Carolina. I think you may have a variant of the Confederate jasmine though, it has a creamy like flower and amazing smell. I grew them in California along with Carolina Jasmine.

I know what you mean, I was going to use the second photo as my cover but was worried it would not center right for the thumbnail. So I went with the close up instead. Yeah the last one is shot with an Ultraviolet pass filter, takes a long time to get that pic.. about 2 minutes of shutter exposure.

It was hard to get focus, I had to turn on my room light alot just to get focus and then turn back off. My human eye does not see the detail these photos are showing. I only see a very dim light so I need to use regular light to frame my shot and then turn it off for the actual shot.
