WTF IS UP WITH THE AI-CREATED REALISTIC FACES? - Spigot 2/18/19
There’s lots of news on phony faces these days, folks say look exactly like real.
What is the motivation for A.I. faked portraits, and why is this now a big deal?
We can think of a couple of reasons, but they don’t match what’s being suggested,
Which is creation for use in VR, and done with much less work invested.
It seems to be an operation that shows us, no consideration for abuse.
They could be used in all kinds of scams, with all the scammers on the loose.
Would you name a kid “Born to Be Blue” since it translates to “Born to Be Sad?”
That’s the implication of using that name; the kid’s likely teased really bad.
Which likely brings them the sadness and pain, they shouldn’t have to bear.
And all because they were born on an airplane, at some altitude in the air.
It seems the company’s renaming itself, after the baby was handed the phrase
As their name for the rest of their life; this seems abusive in so many ways.
After “public outcry and legal threats,” Google “revised” how it treats ad blockers.
It was also after they’d been exposed, overhyping their role as smooth talkers.
A company called Cliqz, called out their statement, and showed it was simply BS.
The “Evil” Google was exposed once again, but they still will not fully address
What they’ll ultimately do in the long run and as usual, they don’t make it clear.
In our opinion, they’re just buying time, to make things not like they appear.
William Shatner debuted at the Grand Ole Opry, in performance of some tunes,
Along with “Jeff Cook from Alabama” – Shatner just talks; Cook simply croons.
The two made an album together and some titles were surely expected
Like “Beam Me Up” - it’s certainly obvious – no word if the two were respected
By the Opry crowd, (they’re kind of odd), in performance of their show.
Shatner’s 87 - a dilly still breathin’ - they must really like him or they wouldn’t go.

Scams will always be around whether with fake people or not, it is nice though now you can effectively use those images in marketing material and there is no model to pay, licensing and nonsense or some racist bullshit that can go with certain images also. Can depict someone as evil and who is going to say anything? I don't mind it.

Sure, I agree with the awesomeness in the production and use of such images as a sort of public domain thing. And if they can do faces, it stands to reason they can probably do most anything, which would be fantastic.
I generally look at new things created by AI with some skepticism though, wondering whether the reason they create something could have more sinister goals behind the development of applications. This infinite cranking out of pictures that appear real could be used in attacks on image databases, for example. And depending on whether the AI created it in a way so that it can't be traced as a phony, that would make it a weaponized application.
I just don't put a lot of trust in these guys, as you may have guessed. :)
