Welcome to the first edition of a series of articles that I will be sharing based on my thoughts, experience and knowledge. It is my hope that everyone that reads them shall benefit from them one way or another and please feel free to make your contributions, comments and positive criticisms where and when necessary. No man is an island of knowledge and the acquiring of it, is a continuum.
The focus of this series shall be what I choose to call "THE HUSTLE".
Hustle according to the English dictionary is defined as "to obtain by forceful action or to pressure someone into doing something" but I have chosen to redefine it as "the art of identifying opportunities in the mist of problems and leveraging on such opportunities for present or future benefits with little or no resources. A person who does this consistently based on my definition is who I call a "Hustlepreneur". It is a combination of the words "Hustle" and "preneur" which is taken from the word "Entrepreneur".
What makes a #hustlepreneur different from an entrepreneur you might ask? It's quite simple, while the entrepreneur seeks and secures other factors of production such as; land, labour and capital to produce or provide service as a solution to a problem in exchange for money, the other only needs to identify an opportunity to make money. Most times, the hustlepreneur does not produce or provide services rather, they meet needs.
So, what does it take to be a hustlepreneur or what are the skills required?
Firstly, a hustlepreneur must be a problem solver. The ability to identify a need and meeting that need at the right time with little or no resources is highly required.
Since the hustlepreneur profits from meeting people's needs, it is important for him or her to be a people person. He or she must be sociable, articulate, have a great personality , good listening and selling skills not forgetting the ability to negotiate win-win deals.
In addition, he or she does not need to be a specialist in any field as long as they understand the intricacies of the business. In other words, they are more of a generalist that knows little about everything and continuously seeking for knowledge and new ideas.
So in this fast evolving world where innovative destruction holds sway, where there is no job security, where jobs are more goals oriented than specified , where employers constantly seek to pay less for more skills, the hustlepreneur survives and is always assured of constant flow of income.
A big shout out to all the hustlepreneurs around the world doing what they have to do to earn a living, keep stacking them papers and coins. Not forgetting @reggaemuffin @donkeypong @surpassinggoggle @redfishpillar @mammasitta @hanshotitfirst @ausbitbank @kingscrown @kevinwong @demotruk @thecryptodrive @youarehope @steem-lagos
