After many years of steady improvement in womens rights and actual living conditions we are now seeing an era that seems to destroy most of what was gained since the 50s. On the one side we have people that try to use discrimination to fight discrimination, while on the other side there are people that have enough of this and think the solution is to go back to the good old days where gender roles and expectation were clearly defined. And in-between we find women that are confused if they are even allowed to start family since their career is that much more important and men that are confused which role is even left for them.

... in the sense that it is a system of believes that is no longer based on facts that are testable (No offence meant for religious folks). Is there an experiment that could change the opinion of the people fighting for or against the present day notion of equality? I hardly doubt it.

Both sides have already made up their mind. I will give a rather scientific analysis of the topic, which I by the way do not find very important at all.

Men and Women are not the same! We do not have the same height, we do not have the same brain, we do not have the same hormones. It is a myth that men and women look different, but when it comes to abilities, thinking, social interactions we are suddenly identical.

Research suggests that the IQ, which is in itself not that good a measure, is almost identical. But there is a big difference. The standard deviation for men is much larger. While men and women on average are equally intelligent there are more men that are idiots and more men that are geniuses.

Why this is the case is not that hard to understand. Form an evolutionary point of view females are valuable for a species as they are essential for reproduction. Males are expendable. Only a few are needed. For this simple reason they are the testing grounds for evolution. The ones that fail cause no harm, but the ones that succeed can give their genes to the next generation. Women are too valuable to waste them.

This does not only hold in evolution, but also in our social life. Women always have a value. But as a man you are born with zero value and you have to achieve something to define yourself. (I am not claiming at all that women should not or cannot achieve things, they are simply born with one crucial extra ability that men do not have.)

This is also why men always did and still do all the dangerous work. They work the shittiest jobs and they are the soldiers that die in battle. Workplace fatalities are almost 100% men, people killed in armed conflicts too. Men are expendable.
But on the other hand men are also more competitive because the have to be. They do the most prestigious jobs, earn the most money and have to most power.

(All I say here is for a statistical man/women, individuals are much more complex. )

The second biggest fault of the current gender movement

is comparing the few overachieving men with the average women. The average man is lectured that men have so much power even though they are useless and primitive. Somehow this seems to be his fault. But quite painfully he knows that he has absolutely no power and has enough problems just dealing with his own life. This puts a double blame on ordinary men, somehow they are responsible for inequality, but at the same time they must be terrible at being a proper man because they are not at all like men are portrayed.

Men have become so insecure and unsure what their role is. Women seem to be the better humans while men are unfair losers that would best be replaced by a sperm bank. Yesterday I listened to the radio while driving and there was a discussion what it menas to be a men. It was so horrible. Filled with gender stereotypes, guilt and confusion, a really bizarre mix.
There is no such thing as being a real men! Real men do not care what it means to be a real men! They just are themselves and try to do their best. Just like 'real women'.

While men suffer the same holds for women. Success is still measured by the criticised 'male' standards from 40 years ago. Women told to not pursue their own dreams, but to become a man out of 'Mad Men'. Put your career over everything and play soccer when you are a girl...

We have put unrealistic expectations on nearly everyone and are quick to blame ourselves for failing them. But there is only one person that should decide who you are... and that is you alone.

I am not my gender!

Pitting men against women is not helping anyone. Phrasing the problem as a struggle of genders implies that for an individual women to succeed a man needs to step back, a mindset of scarcity. But there is no scarcity in being who you are. The solution is promoting an individualism that accepts everyone as a unique person with their own unique ambitions.

We all are born with certain abilities and we should be free to pursue those without anyone being able force our path. People will always tell us what we should do; it is our task to just ignore them. Freedom does not have a gender.
Women may on average face different problems than men, but the differences between individuals are much bigger.
In a world of individual freedom there cannot be a gender conflict. And the path to individual freedom is a constructive one, while the path to gender equality seems to become more and more destructive, forcing people into constructed roles just like few hundred years ago. Only this time these roles are not constructed by the 'partiarchy', but are cold and lifeless roles invented by a decoupled social elite.

I do not care about gender balances. It does not matter if a women has a high ranking position or not. I only care about my own position. The people that end up on the top dont even know me anyways, and they were selected to not give a shit about me.
I do not have a better or worse life if my gender 'rules the world'. Because I do not rule, I dont care who rules and I refuse to be ruled.

I am an individual, with my own set of skills and challenges. I will try to peacefully reach prosperity, improving my life, the lives of my family and the lives of everyone else a little bit. I claim the unique right to decide for my own life and grant the same right to every other individual. I am ready to defend my freedom and help others to defend theirs. That is really all there is to say. No need to ever mention the gender of an individual because freedom does not have a gender.
