Ulog No 2 Mini Camping Trip Part 1
The camping trip was only a 2 day trip and not very far from home either yet we went to a spot I have never seen, literally like 7 minutes away from home and still in the bush and right along the lake.
Sometimes you gotta be a tourist in your own town.
Quote from the movie Father of The Year. Hilarious movie. I recommend it. Nonetheless that statement is true.
The trip was a bit on the fly and because of it being a last minute decision, we never shopped for easy camping foods so the preparation was a long one. Prepare food for 5, clothing for 4 (husband can grab his own clothes ;p), dog food, fishing stuff and entertainment. That excluded all electronics except for a solar radio.
After setting everything up upon arrival I was able to take in the view.
We had a bit of mixed weather. Sun, clouds, rain and yet it was still warm. When the sun came out we went on a bit of an adventure. The kids and the dogs lead the way through the path.
This area was good for bugs. Didn't see any mosquitoes which is always a great bonus! We walked for about 5 minutes before the kids got immensely excited at what 'they' found. They were screaming, jumping, yelling and laughing.
What they found.....
They stayed up there quite a bit except for Frankie, she came down. So I let my husband watch over them while I continued on the adventure with Frankie.
I was amazed by the view. I mean all the details in everything big and small. From the detailed bark on the cedar trees to some of the fun shaped trees.
To moss covered roots
To moss covered rocks
I even took a picture of the moss up close. It looks like tiny arms reaching for the sun.
The forest seemed like a magical place. When venturing in an unknown area and everything is new it feels like a fairytale. We walked for some time in an area that seemed more spooky. There was no grass, no moss and the trees seemed like they were dead. Even Frankie said she was a bit scared. I had her walk a bit faster through this part as I didn't want her to be too scared as this was a positive experience. And as soon as you know it we spotted some greenery. It was as though it was the only place where the sun would poke through and a patch of green could only grow there.
After that the trail lead us to an opening. Through tall grass and ferns we heard some buzzing. We landed upon a field of flowers! The buzzing coming from the trees of course!
I really wasn't expect that, nor was I expecting to see what we stumbled upon next.
Not sure what was built there before or what people tried to build long ago. I felt like an archeologist that found a new site and searching for some type of structure or writing to tell me the years from when it came. I have a big imagination sometimes :p
Although my imagination would tell me it was the land that caved in and swallowed the beginning of the homes many many years ago leaving only 2 big squared stones, having to dig far into the earth to find the remains along with skulls and random pieces of bones; they could just be pieces of a previous mine that was started and then never found any precious metals to keep going.
And so I end this part of the camping trip with this, leaving you questioned on what happened next. Will we see a bear? Will I have to save Frankie from the tortures of the forest? Stay tuned!
Nice tree house! I hope that's actively maintained ;)
I also like the field of flowers, the lake, and the moss fingers. Ah. Nature
I don't think it is. We heard afterwards that the person who was building there decided to stop going for some reason.
Nature is always beautiful in many ways.
Yes camping is so much fun. And what a great find the kids found! Starnge how sometimes we stumble on places that are so close yet so far from our thoughts. Looks like the puppy had fun too. We would love to try and camp here in Florida but you cant just go and do it. You like have to apply for permits and only certain places you can go, and all the places are hours away from us. Because we have pets there is no way we could leave for a weekend. Kinda sucks but its ok because our pets mean the world to me.
Well anyway got to get going. Thanks for sharing your trip. So lucky 💋
Wow that is the first time I have ever heard of needing a permit to go camping... Florida has a lot of really weird laws. I'm sure we have some too but it is easier to take advantage of since we are in a small town, we are not watched over as much.
Looks like much fun was had by all! Love that treehouse, and can easily see why the children were excited! Thanks for sharing your adventure with #steemitbloggers 😊
Because of this camping trip, my husband decided he wanted to make a little hideout for the kids. We dont have good sturdy trees to be making a tree house but the kids will still love it. My son is excited to start building it with him.
It was a blast! Thank you for coming by :) More to come later in the day ;)
WHAT beautiful memories you have made for your children!
And this tree!!!

Someone's trying to get more sunshine! HOW COOL!
I am wondering what people did to make that tree grow like that. Usually its like that because there is something in the way but nothing is there O.o
Haha! I like how u ended with questions. OH WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT? Find out next time!~ Hehe, but yea, loved how the family enjoyed themselves except Frankie at the spooky part of the woods. Can't wait to read part 2.
I have to keep the audience wanting more :p Part 2 possibly tomorrow. ;) Thank you for reading!
Yay, can't wait!
What an awesome trail...
Some of those pictures could have belonged to your Goldilocks tale haha
Thanks you for sharing @foxyspirit :)
I know!!! Too bad we went after :''( lol Now if we get another fairy tale story, I have more :p
Thanks for checking out my ulog :)
paradise! Nature is medicine to the body.
I couldnt agree with you more <3
It looks mysterious but with wonders, I would have a mixed feeling to have found a tree house here in the woods but loving it that it actually exists. I couldn't imagine what's next if you're going deeper into the forest :O
At first I was worried but it proved to be sturdy. We watched over the kids as they played there. They knew not to jump and go all crazy up there. My heart would have jumped out of my chest!
Haha, that's the parent instinct that nobody can get over with. I am happy for you that you're blessed with such an amazing family and neverthless I am looking forward to your next family adventure :)
Definitely! You totally get it. The next part has some not so nice things that I need to share. It will be an interesting read.
