A Meatless Dish Where You Could Add Meat

in #food6 years ago

I love food! And summer is the best time to be creative with the many different flavours we can come by.

One thing I came up with was last summer. There were diamond drillers going to my mother's restaurant every single day. She Had to make them their packed lunches to go and they would have supper at the restaurant. So everyday she would try to come up with something new. Eventually that gets pretty frustrating. Most times it always seems to be the same. Meat and rice, meat and potatoes, meat and pasta. There is only so much a small family restaurant can do.

So she called me one day and asked me for ideas. Most of the things I came up with that I know she had in stock she already did. Then something just came to mind, lit like a lightbulb over top of my head.

Now I don't know if its been already made before. There are billions of people in this world so I am sure it is something quite common. Hopefully this can be a recipe that is new or somewhat new to you and will tickle your tastebuds.

I told my mom that I had an idea something that is quick to make and can feed many. She asked me what it was but of course I didn't have a name to it and we didn't have any time for explanations. I just told her to boil water and I ran back home ( I don't live far), went into my greenhouse and grabbed spicy basil, sweet basil and parsley. I ran back to the restaurant and started cutting up veggies and just really got into what I was doing.

I was then made to serve the workers. I guess my mom didn't trust in what I was making, I think it was something completely foreign to her.
Anyways I explained to them what the dish was and let them dig in. Later I came back to make sure everything was ok and they absolutely loved it! WOOHOO!

And so now I would like to bring you......

FOOD!

Hehe...

And so the picture is upside down, please pay no attention to that

This plate consists of:

  • Fetuccini

  • Peppers

  • Onions of whatever kind you prefer

  • Tomatoes of your preferred choice

  • Garlic

  • Butter

  • Sweet, Spicy Basil

  • Parsley

  • Salt and Pepper

  • Parmesan Cheese

Start with putting a pot of water on the stove and having the element set on high to boil the water. In teh maentmei slcie.... Learn to read scrambled letters. Let me try that again.

In the meantime (aha!) slice up the pepper. Try to not eat any as you go since you want to leave some for you and the guests/family members.

NETX!

Man these typos.....

IMG_3508[1].JPG

Next, slice up your tomatoes. I used cherry tomatoes as they were going to go to waste within the next few days. I have little bird mouths to feed so the smaller the better. But imagine this with a GRAND tomatoe cut into wedges grilled on the bbq drizzled with red wine glaze.... I need a napkin... I'm drooling.. Ahem I appologize.

MOVING ON!!

IMG_3509[1].JPG

Oni-ons, yes! Smell those onions, breath it in close and feel your eyes burn. So good, so bad, it will make you cry!
Just like my friggin typos today.

I have green onions to use today, but red onions would be awesome in here and would add a nice touch of colour to the mix as well. If using the larger tear jerker ones, just slice them up like zee pepperz.

OH! Don;'t forget to ... to ... Is my word 'don't' crying? Onion! You made my words cry!
Don't forget to add the fetuccini once the water is boiling. I feel like I should have an Italian accent right now. I do I write Italian accent when I am french??

Chop up that garlic. Fun fact: When chopping garlic, add a little bit of oil, just a tad and the garlic will not stick to your fingers. Not sure if that was a fun fact. Maybe a helpful tip. Whatever floats your boar. Boat BATO! SMH B O A T! Come on fingers, stay with me here.

IMG_3511[1].JPG

Chop up the fresh spices. Man this basil smells sooooo goood. I could just sniff sniff sniiiiiiiiif mmmmmmmm so good.

And so on to the next project.... smell that basil...

IMG_3514[1].JPG

Fry up your veggies in some olive oil or coconut oil or anything that's healthy. I am suppose to stay away from oils... my bad. Ok so do not just throw everything in the pan at once, everything has a different cooking time right. Let the peppers cook a bit longer depending on how you like it cooked. You choose.

IMG_3515[1].JPG

The awesome part. Take some butter. I never measured how much, just go by how many people you are feeding. I am feeding a family of 5 so it looks a bit like this.
This is your saucey sauce. All you do is brown the butter and add the herbs. Do this on low temperature. It would be so very sad to ruin the basil.
After that just spoon it on top of the pasta and veggies and Voila! Oh hey look my fingers are working! Glad you are with us fingers. This wouldn't be right without you's

Top with a branch of parsley and it looks beautiful. Except for on my plate cause my tomatoes were too soft and kinda became mush. Here is a pick again just so you can try to smell the garlic and basil :D

Here is an lovely added touch. You can add some stinky cheese. Parmesan I mean but blue cheese.... I think that would be great!
Now you can also top with chicken or fish or sausage. I had leftover sausages that my kids wanted so I sliced it up and fried it in BBQ sauce. They loved it. I enjoyed it without the meat. A meatless dish where you can ass meat :)

I hope you enjoyed, let me know if you have made something similar before or if you do make it. I would love to see how it turned out ^_^

The picture with the green onions sliced is very satisfying. Delicious and funny post. Love it.

And next up, alphabet soup!!

I was thinking of putting it up for comedy but I have not been able to follow up with them and have no idea what round it is.

Glad you found it funny :p I find it quite easy to put humour in with food ^_^

Alphabet soup... hm.. matching well with my typos :D

I just reread it, typos I tell you! at the end - a meatless dish where you can ass meat?? I never even noticed that one XD

Lollll I missed that!!! It was hidden among the other decoy typos

You sure are good at this writing stuff miss @foxyspirit. Thanks for continuing to give us good stuff to read, your garden one today was great also!

Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it. I hope to catch up some today as I haven't been able to read much of anything and I do look forward to reading what people are writing, you included. So sorry I haven't been around much! Maybe I can take an extra few minutes ;) I hope!!!!

LOL! I love how you put this recipe together (and I feel your pain with the typo thing!). Looks like a wicked yummy and easy (two of my favorite things) dish, and I appreciate all the giggles!

I have been told once before that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Well I can say that my husband's stomach tells me he has a pretty big heart :p
If it is easy and fast to make, the more time there is to spend with the family and less dishes to clean after too.

The best part, if you ask me, is that I got to make you laugh :) Putting a smile on someone is an awesome feeling ^_^

LOL! He sounds like my husband too! And excellent point - I'm all for anything that gets me out of the kitchen faster. And you put another smile on my face with your reply, so thanks again!

WOOHOO! I am really liking this smiling giving thing :D xxx

I'm pretty fond of it too! 😊

A meatless dish where you can ass meat :)

Would that be beef, pork or chicken!??? Lololol
Great post!

That one flew by me and never noticed the typo until I reread it some time after. It makes the ending of the post just perfect. LOL

Glad you had a laugh :p

I love the typos even more than the recipe! I'd love to see more recipes written like this one. I don't follow recipes, but I enjoy learning about new ways to prepare food. This gave me a laugh and a learn at the same time.

Your comment made my day! Thank you very much ^_^

I only follow recipes in certain things when making desserts but that being said I still like to experiment a lot with what I am baking.

I hope the next time I write out a food post that it will be just as fun ^_^
