Malabi or Israeli milk pudding
Hey, hey Steemian,
I said it and I say it again: I am a big fan of Ottolenghi, this great chef, who is from Israel. Therefore, I love the Israeli food. On my shopping list for Berlin I had: za'tar, harrisa paste, rose water and other goodies which are difficult to find in Bucharest.
I am not such a big fan of pudding, but my mind kept saying "Give it a chance!" And it was right, it's very light and delicious, the perfect dessert after eating too much.
Ingredients
PUDDING
500 ml milk
40 g cornstarch
80 g sugar
walnuts/pistachio for garnish
I used also pomegranate and some cinnamon
SYRUP
40 g sugar
40 ml water
1 bay leaf
- Put the milk and 40 g of sugar to heat.
- Mix the sugar with cornstarch in another bowl.
- When the milk is almost boiling, pour the cornstarch and stir continuously. The mixture will begin to thicken in about 5-8 minutes.
- Remove from the store and pour into glasses. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Meanwhile, mix the water with sugar. Add the bay leaf and leave it for a couple of hours.
- Sprinkle some magic over the pudding: bay syrup, walnuts, pomegranate and cinnamon!
Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeliiiiiciouuus!
Cheers,
