Capture One 11 vs Luminar 2018 vs On1 2018 Part 2
I've been a bit busy but I also managed to go and have some fun with my camera!
Just to recap: I'm learning the new Fuji system and plan on switching from Aftershot to one of these 3 programs. The following images are just straight exports with no editing and are just to be seen as how each software renders the RAF files.
So here is another comparison between all 3 software:

On1
I found this photo interesting, my initial thoughts about how On1 handles detail in lit areas seems to be correct, although On1 arguably has a slight edge when it comes to pulling out colours it really seems to drop the ball on retaining detail and the glowing lights tend to be almost burn out.
Luminance
Interestingly did better at pulling out colour than before and still manages to keep the lighting from blowing out. I think it was a little scared to making the lighting glow however. Not a huge deal and not much else to say really, I was pleased with the results.
Capture 1
It's interesting to see how the sign was rendered in Capture 1, it was the only software to keep the blues from blowing out and at the same time still allow for a 'glow' kind of feeling. Capture 1 seems to understand how to make a very appealing middle ground where the lighting isn't so dead and isn't completely blown out. Again, I have to say Capture 1 is my favourite result.
Editing
So I have been using Capture 1 to do more editing than the other software and I have to say I enjoy the process. I plan on doing a future post with edited results rather than straight exports as shown here and to give a comment on usability. So far my heart is with Capture One, however, I have some high hopes for Luminance (it seems like a very starting point to add a lot of editing) and On1 might be able to win me over if the editing brings back details well enough (I really do like On1's colour rendering but the detail loss bugs me almost as much)
