Hello again and welcome to another Fowl Play Top 5 list, this time on the saddest deaths in games. These top five from the list are only from games we've played as we're sure there are many other sad game deaths out there. Let us know in the comments if you know of any that we may have missed out. We'd love to hear you opinions.

Again, these aren't the newest of games but still, spoilers for the following:

Assassin's Creed
Call of Duty: Modern Warefare 3
Gears of War
Mass effect 3
Fable 3

Here we go!

For those of you who enjoyed Assassin's Creed games would've loved this installation due to its unique feature of owning your own pirate ship. It really did breathe new life into the franchise and the characters within this great story were also commendable, characters such as Edward Kenway and their own take on the Infamous Blackbeard. We think that the Blackbeard in this game was truly worthy of his title for such a badass priate. Blackbeard being as one of your great famous allies in the game who helped you with your pirating ways and instilling fear into your enemies. Such a great character only made it harder for us to watch as he is was cut down by the British Troops whilst you were unable to get to him in time to save him.

His death in the game really did mark the downfall of the Pirating age. You were losing your allies and it was at that point that we knew the free folk were losing the battle.

Another runner up from the Gears of War game series. However, this time we have Marcus Fenix's father; Adam Fenix. The very man you spend much of the game thinking about and trying to rescue. After fighting yourself through waves of Locusts and Lambent, and finally a painful showdown with the Locust's Queen Myrrah and her flying bug. It's after all this killing that your Father's solution to wipeout all the lambent and locusts is ready. It starts emitting it's energy pulse throughout the area but it becomes apparent that Adam is also suffering from this solution.

You find out that he had injected himself with some Emulsion (the juice that turns living things lambent) so that he could study it and test on himself to help him create his weapon to destroy it. Adam expresses his happiness of being able to see his son one last time but after a few more of the energy bursts fly out, he disintegrates into dust before Marcus' very eyes. A tragic way to part ways with your father but he saved them with his sacrifice. (Shit that's a very noble death too).

Now we have another Mass effect death here but we couldn't help it, too many good people die in this game.
For the list we've chosen Thane Krios, the calm pensive assassin who has literally been to hell and back with you. The fact his death is unpreventable makes it all the more tearful.

Already overcome with his crippling illness called Kepral's Syndrome, making it incredibly difficult to breathe, the unique assassin/friend comes to your aid in the nick of time to prevent an assassination of a very important political figure. He really gives the rival assassin a run for his money with some good old fashioned fist fighting but the fight is cut short when Thane is stabbed with a long blade by the other assassin. The sword injury mixed with his existing breathing difficulties makes it impossible for any doctor save this brave drell who spends his last moments in a hospital with you and his son.
He at least manages to get one last quip out aimed towards the assailant about how a terminally ill drell managed to prevent him from reaching his target.

Here we come to one of Call of Duty's older but finer games- Modern Warfare 3. Soap being one of the bad ass main characters of the three Modern Warfare games and the character you play as in the first Modern Warfare (and part of MW2).
It all starts where you are with your good man Soap as you both set your trap for the evil bastard terrorist Makarov. All turns to shit though when its revealed that he knows your plan and moments after, the room you are in explodes but luckily Soap grabs you and pulls you out the window with him. You both fall from a pretty damn high height and awaken later on but Soap isn't looking good.

Luckily, Price comes to your rescue and you both get your asses out of the firing line dragging a beaten Soap behind you. (sounds weird I know). You finally make it to safety where Soap is laid down on a table whilst Price demands a medic come to the scene. The following moments where Soap struggles to stay alive are then made more difficult by Price's reaction to losing his partner. His initial anger and denial about his death make for a powerful and sombre scene.
But does Soap die because Makarov knew the character you play as; Yuri? Probably doesn't matter but it doesn't look good on the guy you play as.

Finally we have the old seasoned warrior Walter Beck from Fable 3. This great compassionate man was your mentor throughout the entire game who by your side during your rebellion against your brother - the tyrannical king. You owed everything you became to him as he was the person who helped you escape your evil brother and become the future monarch. Hopefully you followed his teachings too and became a kinder ruler.

Unfortunately, whilst looking for allies from distant lands, you both come across a malicious force known as the Darkness. This power takes a hold of poor Walter who never seems to fully recover from this first encounter, despite being rescued from the locals.

Over a year later, this same evil spreads itself across all of Albion putting your kingdom and its subjects at great risk. You and your loyal subjects (Walter included) spearhead a defensive against the growing Darkness and the invasion comes to an front when when the master behind the evil, known as the Crawler, appears to take control of the traumatised Walter. You are then faced with the hard decision of defeating your closest friend. Upon triumphing, you manage to destroy the Crawler and dispel the surrounding darkness, however, this was at the cost of greatly wounding Walter who know lies helpless in your arms.
The only happiness to be found in this moment was that Walter could now finally see the light after only seeing darkness for so long, since their first encounter with the enemy. He was then able to pass on to the afterlife, dying in your embrace.
Such a great person was given a solid send off though with a statue to remember him by and kind speeches given from your friends.
