My travel to Parga.
Traveling around Greece is always a pleasure. And sharing my pictures with all of you, here on steemit is the next best thing.
I am particulary fond of the Ionian coast mainly because of the thriving flora and the incredible colours of the sea and Parga is my favourite town in the area!
Throughout it’s long and turbulent history has been ruled by Normans, Venetians, French, English and Ottomans till 1913 when Greece won in the Balkan Wars. The striking detail in the history is that the Ottoman Ali Pasha of Ioannina, was trying to conquer Parga for more than 20 years and finally he bought it from the English!
The castle that we see today is the third one that was built on the spot since the previous two times it was demolished to the ground by invaders! Nevertheless the view from it is gorgeous and I especially loved it at dusk time.
Once you are there you will find a lot of wonderful beaches. Krioneri is practically in the town and it is as good as it looks. You can even swim to the little island of Virgin Mary across the bay.
For those who like the beach really long with a lot of umbrellas and sun beds or for those who love water sports there is Valtos, on the other side of the town.
In short distance from Parga you will find more amazing beaches and my proposal is to grab a boat and see them all. I am pretty sure that you will have an unforgettable ride.
And for heavens shake do not forget your mask. I made a promise to myself that next time I’ll be there I will do some underwater photography too.
All the pictures were taken by me with my Canon EOS 7D with two Sigma lenses (18-50mm f/2.8 and 10-20mm f/3.5).

What a beautiful sea and colorful village! Greece is just so stunning! Love the Ionion as well. Ali Pasha built a similar beautiful castle on the Ionian coast of Albania; the man really loved that coast :)
He definitely left his mark to the Ionian coast and to a much larger area too!
