Greetings, fellow Steemians!
About a month ago, the great blue heron flew past while I was out taking photos at the state forest. The lens I had at the time (Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM) was not able to focus fast enough. Today, I had another shot, this time with a much better lens.

Even on my old 7D (original) body and significantly cropped, the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM managed to pull off a really crisp image. Even the eye is tack sharp!
These birds are majestic. They maintain altitude with slow, steady flapping.

This image, with more context and the floating tree poofs, is a keeper!
The mosquitoes were insane. They managed to get their little beaks through my full cammo and were literally swarming, so I left shortly after the heron did. West Nile disease? Maybe. Worth it? Of course!
