THE REWARD OF GREED

๐Ÿ“œ๐Ÿ“œ2 KINGS 5:21-27๐Ÿ“œ๐Ÿ“œ

๐Ÿ”‘๐Ÿ“–Key Verse: "The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow" (2 Kings 5:27).

Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, had the disease of leprosy. He was directed to Elisha by the maid who waited upon his wife.

Elisha told him to wash himself seven times in River Jordan and his skin would be cleansed. Naaman obeyed, and after he had washed himself, his skin became cleansed and new! In appreciation, he offered gifts to Prophet Elisha, but he refused to accept the gifts from him.

Elisha had a servant named Gehazi; he was greedy. When he noticed that his master, Elisha, did not accept the gifts, he sneaked out and ran after Captain Naaman. He lied to Naaman that Elisha had a change of heart and wanted him to bring back the gifts to him, so he would in turn give them to two young men of the sons of the prophets who needed his help.

Unknown to Gehazi, the Lord had already revealed to Elisha his act of greed. Elisha cursed him and commanded the disease of leprosy to come upon him and his seed forever, and it was so. Gehazi did not receive the reward for his greed alone, but his seed was also cursed.

As children of God, we should be satisfied with what our parents provide for us. We should not envy our friends when we see them eating or having things our parents cannot afford to give us, so that we do not attract God's wrath upon ourselves. God is able to supply all your needs. Remember that "little is much when God is in it."

๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ™๐ŸฝPrayer: Dear Lord, help me to be content with what I have, and to always put my trust in You.
