Introduction

One of the biggest career paths that anyone can undertake is to become an Entrepreneur. It is both challenging and rewarding. The margin between success and failure can be as thin as air. There are many successful Entrepreneurs out there in real life and books. A combination of factors and personality traits helped them to survive the test of time. However, there are some personality traits that effectively kill entrepreneurship. Any new or aspiring entrepreneur must work hard to overcome them in other to succeed. This article will briefly look at just 3 of them:

1. Procrastination: One of the biggest killer of time and dreams is procrastination. A lot of entrepreneurs know what to do and how to do it. But because of one reason or the other, they keep on delaying or shifting it to some future time. When you procrastinate, you leave important matters to chance. Sometimes, they are done at the dead of time and often poorly done as well. When you find it difficult to stick to a schedule and accomplish tasks, it will be difficult to achieve anything. Worse yet, it will be harder to make your team to stick to their work schedule. Procrastination steals your valuable time and important tasks are left unattended. To be an entrepreneur requires proper time management and sticking to some routines. A lot of things like marketing, business planning, team selection and other things must be done at the appropriate time. So to succeed in these and many other things, Entrepreneur must have to deal with procrastination. He should be able to get stuffs done and do them as at when due.

2. Closed-minded: Being closed minded will lead you to believe that you have the best solution for every problem. People with closed minds are quick to dismiss other peoples opinions as irrelevant. They do not listen to advice and are always convinced that noone knows better than them. The danger of not having an open mind is that you will miss out on new and brilliant ideas. Entrepreneurs should be quick to listen to advice from their team. There are people that may know better. Sometimes, what we think about a situation may need to be adjusted. Only an open mind will welcome workable suggestions from other people. Even if your idea seems to be the best and you want to follow it, allowing others to contribute their opinions will make for a relaxed work environment where everyone will feel welcome and important A closed mind drives people away while an open mind contributes to effective teamwork.

3. Being afraid of failures: Every entrepreneur must conquer their fears. Courage is needed to take new steps. You should develop the courage to step out of the comfort zone and do something new. Many people are afraid of the unknown and will rather do business as usual. An entrepreneur needs to understand that failure is part of success. So you need to fight your fears and overcome them completely. Do not expect perfection from you or your team members. There should be room for mistakes. When you realize this, you are further emboldened to pursue your goals by taking steps that may lead to the expected success or failure. You learn from your mistakes and move on. So any entrepreneur must overcome fear and face the future with courage.

Conclusion

Entrepreneurship is a career part that can lead to challenges and success. A combination of personality traits can make it harder or easier to achieve ones goals. When individuals make the right choices and develop the type of habits that are positive, they experience growth. However, they also need to avoid the above mentioned characters and many others. Only a good balance of positive traits can guarantee success in one's journey as an entrepreneur.

Very good advice, I will put more attention to conquer fears I think that every entrepreneur must fight against that mainly

@ramsesuchiha. True, we need to develop the courage needed to overcome fears. When you conquer your fears, no obstacle or challenge will seem big for you

to crown it all, this is the main reason for failure-Procrastination. I will do it today, tomorrow, next tomorrow. At the tail end, you wont do it at all, is the biggest factor that kills progress.

@tfame3865. Honestly, procrastination use to be a huge challenge for me. But over time, i have mastered the art of doing stuffs when they should be done

Very much right in your 3 characteristics or advice, particularly I think we should have a very open mind whether in business or in life in general, we can not always expect things to be and do as we say or want because that is not the reality. Each person has his own personality and criteria and we must learn to respect and understand them.

The fears of failure will always be there, everything lies in knowing how to accept it and in knowing that everything is part of life, of living, just as sometimes we win we can also lose and this does not mean that we have to stop trying.

@franyeligonzalez. You got the points and thanks for the valuable addition. I have learnt to listen to others and respect their opinions even when I know they are wrong.

Procrastination is a big enemy to success and progress, it limits adventures and denies the access to better opportunities.

@frederickbangs. True. Everyone needs to fight it all the time. It keeps hunting us in one way or the other.

Procrastination is indeed a killer of time. Every successful entrepreneur will never engage in procrastination and this is why I'll never forget a great man's word saying that "never do it tomorrow what you can do today".

Thanks for sharing this great post with love from @hardaeborla and I hope you have a great day ahead
