Many of us have been on the Steemit platform for quite some time now. A lot of newbiews are coming onboard. We enjoy Steemit and there are features that we do not fail to use whenever we are on the platform. However, there are some very important features that we fail to use or dont get to notice over time - and some of them are very necessary for a smooth Steemith experience.

1. The Search button

The search button is the first button located at the top right-hand side of the Steemit homepage before the "write post" and "profile image" buttons: This button is very useful because thousands of post are made on steemit each day. You might need information about a particular topic or subject. Maybe you need to know the cover image size, or you want to understand what Witnesses are, or any other stuff. Using the search button, you can search the Steemit platform for post related to what you are looking for. It becomes very easy with this feature to sort the numerous posts made on Steemit and go straight to your interest.

2. The Mute button:

How many rubbish posts have you discovered lately on your feed. Maybe this guy is fond of posting lots of NSFW content. Or maybe he makes crazy posts about nothing. You followed him initially because of a nice post, but now he has deviated. You do not wish to unfollow him, but you want to stop seeing rubbish on your feed. Well, then, the mute button becomes very useful in this situation. When you mute someone on Steemit, his or her posts no longer appears on your feed. This button is very useful since it helps you clean up your feed and only allow relevant posts to appear on your feed.

3. Markdown Styling Guide

Many newbies are yet to understand very well how to format a post. For example, how do you italicize text? How can i make a selected text bold. How do i underline or strikethrough text. There are lots of ways to format your post and make them attractive to the viewer.
