The Meaning of Sharing (Short Story)

in #steemxp5 years ago

"Nana, go tell Mom that Uncle Clement is coming!"

Nana (7), his sister sped off, into the house, to tell Mom about the good news.

Great news, indeed. Joshua (11), the elder brother, himself, get to greet Uncle Clement first!!!

Uncle Clement parked his car outside our main gate, and slowly climbed out. He was sweating, the weather had been really sunny for the whole week.

"Long time no see, Joshua!" he said, in a deep growl voice.

"I miss you so much, Uncle Clement! Did you bring presents?" asked Joshua.

Uncle Clement dug deep into his pocket and sprung out a bundle of candies, almost 20 candies.

"WOW!" exclaimed Joshua.

"Please share some with Nana, okay?"

Mom came out with open arms, they hugged and started to chit chat.

Joshua saw Nana and gave her a candy.

One. Candy.

Nana took it with happiness, and said "Thank you, Josh!"

Joshua smiled behind her, thinking that the rest of the candies were already his.

Two months later...

Uncle Clement came but Joshua was playing games in his room.

Nana got some chocolates in her hands.

Joshua thought, "OMG, I was late!!! Nana got chocolates already!? Two bars???"

Nana was holding one big bar and one small bar of chocolates.

Joshua thought, "Sigh... Maybe she will just give me the small one, fine anyway..."

Nana saw Joshua and quickly ran to him, shouting, "The big chocolate for you, Joshua!"

Joshua stunned, "The big one is for me?"

And all these while, he only gave her 1 candy... And he had only gave her the ones he didn't like.

She ran to Mom to tell her the good news.

Joshua stood in front of Uncle Clement, blushed.

Uncle Clement commented, "Nana is so kind to give you the big one. Next time, you have to be fair, okay?"

Uncle Clement was "savage", man... He knew all along.
