Do you want to save your money on prescriptions in pharmacies? (in US)
Do you want to save money on prescriptions in pharmacies?
for everybody whoever has rx insurance or uninsured.
make sure if you have the prescription coverage with your insurance provider.
Prescription coverage is totally separated one with health, dental and vision plan. So, find out if you received the prescription plan card from your employer or insurance agent. Check if all family members are on the list if you enrolled family plan.check your medication formulary list provided by insurance company. You can ask your doctor to prescribe lower tiers medications or generics.
When your copay is too high, ask to the pharmacy why. Maybe, you still have a deductible amount or in medical gap with your plan. Do not be upset with the pharmacy, they don't decide your copay, your insurance does. So, keep in mind you might have deductible in the beginning of your plan year.
If it is still high copay without deductible, go back to number 2 above. Or you can search the manufacturer's voucher or coupon through the internet, from doctor's office or pharmacy. you have to provide your info like name, phone number, email address etc. to activate it, but it worths it!
If your prescription is rejected by insurance like prior authorization, your pharmacy will contact to doctor to let them know. Doctor's office will change med or try to get the pre-approval from your insurance company with all paper work. please be patient for several days and follow up with pharmacy or doctor's office.
If it is rejected by the reason 'product not covered', still doctor can change rx or you can use discount prescription card, which I will explain below for uninsured patients.
For uninsured patients,
You will be surprised that there are so many prescription discount cards when you search on internet. You can choose whichever gives you the lowest copay on your meds or easy one to use. You still ask the pharmacy if they have a good discount card.
I would like to show a couple of discount card I think best, to you.
First one is "Good RX" https://www.goodrx.com/
if you type your med name, it will show you all prices form each pharmacies. You can just choose, print coupon and go to the pharmacy with your prescription.
Second one is "Blink Health" https://www.blinkhealth.com/
This has a little different figure with other discount card. You can make your account on it and pay to them directly and pick up in the pharmacy without any copay.
Actually, these will save a lot of money on prescription for you, in my experiences.
I hope this posting help you.
