Homesteads Sharing The Produce
Beautiful Citrus Trees On My Friends Florida Homestead
These tangerine trees are just loaded and almost ready to eat. I love this variety of tangerine as they are so super sweet. These trees are over producers and so they supply 4 households each year. Two of the families have children and two of us always can some for winter, and place other fruit in boxes covered with salt to preserve. We also make jams.
The Orange Trees Are Also Filled With Green Oranges
More Citrus Trees From This Small Orchard
Hopefully by the time I come back, they will be ready to enjoy. There is nothing like fresh fruit from the tree or vine and Florida can grow so many different varieties. I keep my tropical plants in Florida also, so they will be ready in a few months. I will go back and dry them and bring them back in my suitcase.
I keep my tropicals in large pots and someone waters them, and so I can harvest them when I come back. So much better for us to eat our own produce, as then we can keep all chemicals off. And when we share among a group, like we do, we all get a variety of quality food.
Hope this gives you some ideas on how you might do a small group among friends or family. It is one of the ways we get good food to all of the homesteads and plenty of variety.

Wow, that will be full of fresh fruits at that tree after a month..
U are right, its really fun to harvest our own fruit from tree, we can eat that after we pick.
That will be very delicious..
At my grandpa house there is one mango tree, before the fruit ready to harvest we already pick the fruit from the tree 😆. We cant wait until they ripe..
Thanks for reading @avika.

I like to get it when just dry and then can and dry the fruit for winter. I keep my trees in large pots @avika.
Owh you eat dry food for the winter, i see.. is that fruit will taste good at dry or fresh?
Whether you can, freeze, or dry depends on what you want to do with the fruit. All ways are good. Like if I make yogurt, I can use any of the different ways. Citrus I can keep fresh longer by packing in a wood crate and covering with salt.
Oo now i get it..
I never see that fruit before, but i think they sell it in a big city of my country, not here in small city i live.
Thank you for sharing @floridagypsy. 😊

Thanks @easytyga.
I citrus hard to take care? :)
@marylizacaindoy.....No they are really quite reasonable. If growing in ground, space about 6 feet. If using pots, start small and then re-pot from time to time and finally use like a half barral or larger. Just study up on natural fertilizers and pest controls that you can make all natural. I usually use Nheem Oil and other things. I often buy a local organic fruit and save the seeds and let them dry on a plate in the sun for about a week. The key is the fruit needs to be from your area and organic or chemical free.
