Some pictures of the Eurasian Advocet at the shore and in the shallow water
In Summer 2019 I was on a photography thrip at lake Neusiedler together with Stefan and since this is one of the best birding places in Austria we were able to take several nice pictures of different birds. One of the waterbirds that I really like very much is the Eurasian Advocet wich looks very majestetic when wandering in the shallow water and also when it is looking for food in the sand with its beak.

We took our cameras in a sleeping mat and laid down at the beach near the water. There we waited for several hours to take some nice pictures. The birds fortunately noticed that we are not a threat for them, so they came pretty close and minded their own business in searching for insects in the shallow water. This is very nice and relaxing when watching them slowly searching the water for some small water insects and amphipoda. I think these birds are very beautiful but the only place I found them so far is Lake Neusiedler and for me this is always a 2 to 3-hour drive with the car only in one direction. So I cannot visit this place every day.
Another place I really want to visit is the Wadden Sea in north Germany. There should also be a lot of birds during Low Tide. But we will see when I can get there. There are already so many places on my list for the next time
