My second hobby, poker story #1

Last weekend was a weekend filled wiht another hobby of mine, Poker.

In 2016 I was Tournament Director for the organisation that organised the ONK Poker. The Open Dutch Championship of Poker. This is a tournament series that plays 125 prelimenary rounds all over the Netherlands, the winner of each round goes straight to the final. In total almost 8000 people contested in this event, out of them and through some semi finals a total of 142 made it to the Final, I volunteered to help the organisation with being a dealer during the final.

The final tournament started on Saturday at 13.00 hours local time, and I was scheduled to deal deep into the night. At 23.40 the Final Table with the final 9 contestants was formed, and at that moment I was dealing the feature table, which was live streamed. After all dust settled the only player from Belgium that competed the whole year won the title at 4 on the morning.

On Sunday the same organisation organised the Dutch Team Championships of poker first prelimenary round. I competed with a team of 4. We played 3 sit and go tournament which took about 2 hours. 50 teams of 4 people competed, and the first 10 teams would advance to the semi final. We ended up getting 39 points after 3 rounds which was enough to advance to the semi final, which will take place in december. We are confident we can advance to the final as well.
