While I could jump around like a gummibear when checking the Steem price, I have to admit I am a bit scared as well.
What is causing this insane growth? Did we got added to another exchange?
Is this in participation for the coming ICO or did the world is starting to realize the greatness of Steemit?
Anyway if this is what 2018 has in store for us, we are in for a wild fun ride.

Im moment geht ja alles wieder rauf und auch ETH überrascht mit seiner CASPER Nachricht... Bin wegen Steem gar nicht besorgt, da die SMTs ja nicht lange auf sich warten lassen werden und auch immer mehr Leute dazustoßen :-)
Was wurde angekündigt? Kommt früher später oder gar nicht?

Relatively easy for big money dudes to "pump" on steem.
Go look at the stats on CMC.com
Only took about 30Million USD to cause the jump in price.
Compare to some of the other cryptos that have jumped recently. It can take 500Million USD in volume to double the price.
Pumpers are looking for coins that are "real". Meaning they have a working blockchain and proven traffic, not just a whitepaper.
And are sitting in the weeds at around 40th to 50th position overall, and then they can pump the price by 2X with relatively small investment.
Price will slowly decline when the volume declines, but net effect overall will be at least 50% gain will hold.
That would be still good. But yes the pump today seems unnaturel

I believe the evaluation increases of steem are related to network effect (increased membership and activity) along with the pending SMT launch and the ecosystem of development required to get that moving along.

Possible but a spike of over 100% does not seem likely with that.
I wouldn't call it a spike then but instead a shift higher with legitimate scaffolding via adoption
