Esports and steem?

in #crypto6 years ago

Fortnite is a free to play game with 125 million players according to Epic Games.

40 Million players lock in every month to build, shoot and do stupid dance moves.

A couple of days ago they announced they will accept crypto for their ingame shop...better said to buy their ingame currency with which you buy new cloth or dance moves for your onlineself.

They will only accept Monero.

Bitcoin will not be accepted for now. According to Riccardo Spagni the lack of privacy was the reason they don`t accept BTC.

I would say those are pretty huge news for Monero. The price must be going crazy...

wait.....only 6.51%

In a sea of green 6.51% is not really crazy in my book!

Imagine such news 2017!

Is the market maturing? Doubt it.

Announcment of announcment still makes coins move but actual adoption seems to do nothing at all.

Still I am very excited to see how many people will buy the floss with xmr

Despite the price action this is still huge. If a hitgame like fortnite introduces crypto to their players.

If this turns out to be successful this will not be the last game using crypto. Imagine EA would accept crypto for their stupid DLCs they dump out.

Imagine you could buy your Hearthstone cards with Litecoin, Monero or even Steem.

Monero has something Steem does not have and this is privacy.

Steem is kind of anti private since our wallets are just 1 click away for everyone to see.

If privacy is a concern for the companies I would say we are out

So how could we still get a piece of the gaming cake?

Well, with Steemmonsters we have our own cake.

With @chibera we have another game in the pipeline

But could there be more?

Could we provide proof of ownership services for other games?

A marketplace run on steem?

The market for CS:GO weapon skins alone is huge.

Even the betting industry around Esports is picking up with a volume of 250 million in 2015.

Esport is just getting started and will grow and I am sure crypto will be a part of this and I would love to see Steem being a part of this as well.

I can`t really come up with an idea which is not dipping in the reward pool though.

For betting for example, people could bet for upvotes. You have different tiers like highrollers, midstakes etc and need a certain amount of steem to be part of a certain tier.

I am sure their are more elegant and clever ways to get this going

Botty loves you. <3

It would be cool to see something like that on Steem which could draw more users to help grow the platform overall.
