SUCCESS! We have growth!
@papa-pepper and I have traded some elderberry plants a couple of times since my first batch did not make it through the winter. Well... yesterday I went to water the pots that hold the plants I received last year and to my surprise I found new growth on one!
I am super stoked to have one finally growing since it is a different variety from my natives growing around the farm. The natives are the purple variety and the ones from papa-pepper are the black variety. With it having made it through winter in the pot I will be able to get it in the ground this summer once the root system is well developed.
So far things are going well. I have 4 blackberry plants from the Seattle area I got last year that are growing nicely, my gooseberry bushes are all growing well, and my new pear trees are all budding out, along with the elderberry. Finally feeling a bit happy with the potted plants and their growth.

It is getting hot in the west already and I am not sure how this will be for the summer. I am hoping for a moderate summer and not a scorcher but we are getting mid 80s on sunday.
80s for the past few days! It's full speed ahead! Time to grow!
