Bumblebee on Sunflower covered in Pollen
The Bumblebees are loving the sunflowers so much as they bathe in the pollen. They seem to be around the more exposed flowers like the sunflowers and the Bugloss , rather than in the large squash flowers that I really only see Honeybees in. Might be that they have too fat of butts for the bottom of the flower to where they might get stuck, or maybe just that the Honeybee traffic is too high around the squash. Though they will hit up the bean flowers, but they are more exposed as well, despite the high Honeybee traffic.
The Bumblebees really like the Common Bugloss, which despite being a noxious weed I am not cutting it down so they will have more flowers available.

Good to know I'm not the only one that saves the weeds for the bees! Been planting flowers like crazy and even planted clover in my yard to give the bees so thing to eat. Keep up the good work!
Thank you. It is a balance between clearing for fire danger but leaving ample vegetation for the bees and other insects, but I have areas that are left wild just for that. Along my entry road I have a section between the creek and road that is FULL of Tansy now, had HUGE masses of Mock Orange a month or two ago, and has access to the creek's water. The bees are massing it now that I had to weedeat many of the noxious weeds down.
