Auld Reekie
Edinburgh used to be a pretty smelly place because of poop flying out of the windows, dead people, and a stagnant loch. I'm glad that there is modern plumbing now and I don't have to worry about flying excrement. My favourite Auld Reekie story is about two chaps named Burke and Hare who realized they could make a pretty penny from selling corpses to Dr. Robert Knox, a medical professor at Edinburgh University. Their first money making cadaver died of natural causes, but after that Burke and Hare expedited the process by luring the impoverished to their boarding house. They killed at least 16 people, until their discovery. Edinburgh is like a really beautiful woman with a really shady past. And I love it.
