It's still a long way if that ever happens. Current bitcoin value is around $2300 while ethereum is around 315$. That price gap is huge to cover up in this year. Maybe it will happen maybe it won't in long run but bitcoin will still stay the most powerful cryptocurrency in 2017.
We need some other big player. It is a problem that the whole market is in trouble when BTC goes up or down. Like yesterday an today. My bet it on LTC.
