Meet the 100% electric Ferry
As you have appreciated through the publications a new revolution has begun. In the field of energy, the electrical potential that we had to discover many years ago is being innovated by leaps and bounds before reaching a point of imbalance in our valued ecosystem. Even the shipbuilding industry is shifting technology from large, noisy, polluting fossil-fuel engines to clean, sustainable electric technology. That's why I'm honored to introduce the world's first all-electric ferry. Meet Ellen. Come with me to learn more about this incredible powerboat from another world.
Ellen the product of the technological advance in construction of electric batteries that every day surpass more their capacities of autonomy, not only can have autonomy in addition it is the most powerful ferry of the world, before putting it in operation at commercial level step hard tests of navigation, it has not been necessary to use rescue cruises, and in its first trip it could realize without any problem a route with more than 22 miles between some important cities in the south of Denmark. And if we look only at the journey there is no other ferry route in the world that surpasses the Danish, according to dantos of the company the maximum capacity of the Ellen is 200 passengers, 30 cars and 5 trucks of heavy cargo.
The Ellen has nothing to envy to any engine of Diesel or gasoline, instead of engines to combustion has a battery of impressive dimensions that is capable of producing 4,3 Mwh battery manufactured by the Leclanché company, this allows to propel the two engines of electric propulsion of 750 KW and in addition it is equipped with two auxiliary engines of 250 KW, the technology of the battery as it was to expect is of lithium ions G-NMC to maintain so much power is needed strong separators of ceramics.
Only the operation of this electric ferry will be reducing the emission of CO2 that would add about 2000 tons annually, plus the engines and battery are certified for use at sea and this removes the mind in the long-term future of continuing to use old and polluting combustion engines, contributing to climate change, and the welfare of the oceans as the engines of the ships throw considerable amounts of oil and fuel polluting marine ecosystems.
The project took 5 years to run, it was worthwhile for the team of designers of the Danish company called Natura in conjunction with the European Union, so far this first fleet is part of the transport network of Scandinavian countries, where there are many islands and it is necessary to have support ships that can meet the demand of the inhabitants, after all it is more practical to travel by boat than by land, now only remains to change all the technology of the boats for electric motors.
This is a big step that sure other European countries will be smart enough to adopt this type of technology that promises to heal the environment, think that the first ships were steam technology that was replaced by combustion engines but that in the end did not mean a negative impact on the environment, the use of combustion engines still represents more than 90% of the use in boats of all kinds, many waters in Europe are totally polluted by the use of engines that give off fossil fuel oils.
