Chicago: Walter Parazaider (saxes, flute, clarinet, vocals), Lee Loughnane (trumpet, vocals), James Pankow (trombone), Terry Kath (electric guitar, vocals), Robert Lamm (keyboards, vocals), Peter Cetera (electric bass, vocals) and Danny Seraphine (drums). From the album Chicago II (1970).

In 1984 Chicago published Chicago 17, which was the best-selling album in the history of the group, being certified six times multiplatinum. In it appears two ballads that reached third place on the Billboard Hot 100: “Hard Habit to Break” by experienced composer Steve Kipner and John Lewis Parker, and sung by Cetera and Champlin; and “You’re the Inspiration” by David Foster and Cetera, sung by the latter.

Also noteworthy are “Alone Comes a Woman” by Mark Goldenberg and Cetera, sung by the latter; and “Stay the Night” by Foster and Cetera, sung by the latter and in which he tries to convince a girl to spend a night of informal sex with him. This song was accompanied by a video filmed around Los Angeles River. While still in Chicago, Peter Cetera started a solo career until 1985 when he left the band. In 1986 Chicago 18 went on sale, for which several studio guitarists were hired to replace Pinnick.

The song “Will You Still Love Me?” was written by Richard Baskin, Tom Keane and Foster, and sung by new singer and bassist Jason Scheff, reaching third place on Billboard Hot 100. Furthermore, the album also contains “If She Would Have Have Been Faithful...” by Randy Goodrom and Kipner, also sung by Scheff, and was among the top ten on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart. Adult Contemporary is an easy to listen form of popular music played on the radio which includes vocal music, soul, rhythm and blues, soft rock and pop.
