Cooking, A Passion, A Love, Not A Gender Role

Hi everyone,
why do I love cooking? Well, this is not a question in a girl's life. Society thinks every girl should love cooking but why? I guess not every girl needs to love and know how to cook. Is cooking based on gender? Why don't boys cook? Well, not all, but many think that cooking is not for us. Why do we boys cook? We have mothers, sisters, and wives for that. I'm sick of this type of mentality. Like whenever someone meets me, like some women from the neighborhood, whatever, they are like, so do you cook?

I'd like, sometimes. They ask, so you do all the household chores? I say, no I don't because I don't have time for that. I've my studies and we have a maid for that, so why do I have to do all these chores? Then they say, because you are a girl, you have to. I'd like, no I don't have to. I don't know why society divides work based on gender, like jobs for men and kitchens for girls.

I love cooking not because I'm a girl, but because I just simply love it. Or you can say I'm a foodie, so I love food, so I always make it myself and eat it. I don't like asking my mother to make this and that for me. Instead, I make that thing for my whole family and they always appreciate me. They never said, why do we appreciate it? It's your work. That's why I love to cook because they appreciate it.

I love making new recipes. Sometimes they like it; my father doesn't because he is a desi person. He just loves desi, so whenever I try something other than desi, he doesn't like that. And I love cooking junk like burgers, pizza, sandwiches, and all the other things.

In our family, all men always participate in household chores. My uncle's cooking is just amazing. My cousins also cook. I always see all the men in our family doing everything on their own and not letting their women do all the work all alone, and that's what most I love about all of them.

Finally, I would like to say that cooking and all the other household chores are not only for women, and especially cooking is an art, a passion, and not a gender-based role. So do participate in these things and also share your experience of cooking.
