Steemit's growing too quickly for it's own good

in #steemit10 years ago (edited)

Background

The value that is being redistributed on Steemit derives from people investing in STEEM and STEEMPOWER (SP), which has gone great so far.

New users arriving, instantly recognise the potential of steemit to become a major site where users digest content. So they are happy to invest in STEEM and SP as investment opportunities. Other users see the potential for the extra earning power and influence SP brings.

The problem

The early users of steemit have been for the most part people, and their friends, from the cryptocurrency world. These early users have had no problem in buying SP and fully experiencing steemit, the problem arrives with the next batch of users, people who have never used a bitcoin exchange and are too nervous to try.

The solution

As a teacher I would like to see new users learn and grow their capabilities to include using a cryptocurrency to transfer wealth. But you know what, steemit doesn't need that. As far as the growth of steemit goes, I would be happy if newcomers didn't even know they were using digital money, at least to begin with.

To do this there needs to be an easy and simple way, ideally onsite, to buy, and less importantly sell STEEM. I would love to see an option to buy STEEM with a credit or debit card. It is not new whales that we are looking for it is a flood of people investing $50, it is users that have fallen below the minimum balance and need to topup $5, it is these people that will keep steemit growing in the medium term and it is for these people that getting STEEM needs to be made easier.

Indeed. I brought this already up in the past. But I didn't feel the idea was very welcomed by the people with a lot of influence.

The problem-handling is still all crypto currencies. We are all waiting for the KillerApp which allows a very simple but safty Händling.

Lol @ händling

For the newcomers ... in the past I wrote some articles to help newcomers how to make a crypto wallet and use that to convert the money they gained here into fiat currency:
First you need to read this:

and afterwards:

Good luck !!!

You have your point indeed, but I don't see how growing fast is the problem, I think it's the answer.

your right I forgot to mention that, new users receive a free amount by signing up and can generate more. without some of these users investing, that will dilute the market.

As I write this I am thinking if I see users increase I am willing to invest more, thereby solving the problem, it will lead to 1%'ers at least investment wise
