Inexpensive Delicious Comfort Food in Kuala Lumpur

Di Naina is a Mamak restaurant attached to a Store called Giant in Wagnsa Maju Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.

Mamak stalls are found everywhere here and are mostly open air. This one is a bit more upscale than I am used to, but still has the same low prices.

Mamak stalls are generally run by Malaysians of Tamil Muslim origin but who have been here for generations. It's interesting how they keep their diversity over such distance and time.

In all of the many stalls I have eaten at the food is wonderful and one of the comfort foods my friends like. Today's meal was no exception and we all left full and happy.

This is the entrance from the parking area.

This is how you would come in from shopping if you had visited the Giant store behind me, which we did not on this day. It's a bit like a Walmart with groceries and clothes and everything else you might possibly need.

I turned to look at the store and found you can even buy a motorcycle!

The menu shows about 30 cents usd for the cheapest roti up to $1.75 for the most expensive item.

You can take your own meal like a buffet, but the servers prefer to do it for you.

Many choices are here. Fish, Lamb, veg and chicken.

Chicken, rice and four sauces. I did not know what sauce to pick so the server put all of them on for me! Delicious.

I'm not sure what this bread is. It got dipped in the three sauces that were all the same.

Roti Bread with onions inside. dhal and some kind of hot sauce to dip it in. This was particularly delicious, and sadly was not my order, so I only took one square.

I liked Di Naina for all food we had here. I can and do eat this often since I can recognize what I am eating and find it anywhere I go. Di Naina did a good job with the Mamak, and I would gladly return.

Agree with you...mamak restaurant food is cheap and nice.

I guess they are only in Malaysia and Singapore so I feel very lucky to be here.

With all those sauces I wouldn't know what to pick. But it looks sooo delicious. I hope you enjoyed it there. THank you so much for sharing this food adventure with us and may you have a great day!

Glad to! I hope you are doing well too. I love your reviews here and get inspired by them :)

Delicious and great price
