The Summer Dog
This a photo of my dog so it has a special place in my heart for me. I'm fully aware that you might not ascribe any emotional weight to it, neither do I expect it. I'm very fond of this photo mostly because of the contrast presented here.
The surroundings are predominantly monochromatic:
The ground is one solid sea of white that firmly covers any life struggling for survival beneath it, yet nothing can break indifference of frost. The frost does not care. It simply is, no matter how it relates to the living organisms. The trees have shed their leaves long time ago. Standing only as modest monuments to their own glory of yore. They have succumbed as well, they yielded because there isn't any other way. The sky is bleak and empty, as if it's trying to signal there's no hope. But there's is something. There's a living being, radiating with life and energy in the midst of this relentless frost. It rises from the snow as the sun raises from the darkness to illuminate the world and bring the message of life, energy and youth. The life is here, it goes on, doesn't give up, prospers despite the desolate surrounding and harsh mother nature.
