Ike's 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air (B&W) Photoshoot!

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

I shot these back in mid-2011 during my friend's wedding in Wisconsin. His friend's dad owns a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air that rumbles around town like nobody's business. I fell in love with the car in an instant and shot a few photos when I was with it.

Donald or Ike as he's fondly known amongst his family and friends, took me around town as we were winding down with my friends wedding. It was during the wedding that I managed to get a 20 minute break from the wedding shoot itself and took these pictures.

Donald with his prized possession!

Gorgeous front three-quarters!

I remember flooring the throttle and sinking into the seat. It was one of those few times on my trip to the United States when I had a smile plastered across my face!

Shot with a timer, this is one of the best pictures I have of me with any car!

Beautiful badging!

It had a deep emanating growl and as you pottered around town it rumbled, signalling it's arrival and expecting anyone in it's path to move out of its way. The motor was quite a character and the car exuded a classy persona. If I were a mafia don I might ride this to work everyday!

The rear three quarters looks beautiful with the setting sun in the background!

You look like a celebrity in the Bel Air! Magical machine

It had been just a few months since I bought my SLR and was still learning the ropes at the time.

This engine made around 350-400 horses

Vintage American

Can't wait to get back into the driver's seat again

I hope you liked the pictures. Thank you for your time and support!

I still remember when the first camera that could capture colored pictures was released in 2012...

2012?

haha it's my silly joke implying the photos you took in 2011 were black and white because colored photos weren't invented yet :)

hahahah! I got it now :D Damn I couldnt figure it out :P

Who in the world wouldn't love to own or atleast drive that car? The car is magnificent but I like Impala 64' more, saw one on some old-timers tour in Germany and fell in love. Those were the cars with passion and charisma. Hope to see them more in Europo in the upcoming years.

Absolutely right! Fantastic car! I also like the Impala 64' but havent had a chance to get in it yet! :)

Love this!
I rock a '50

Is that your car? Wow!

It was. I recently sold it to help my son (pictured) start his video game/Virtual Reality software company

whoa..that must have been a sacrifice!

Yeah...it stung.
My son is worth it though.
His dedication to his craft is amazing.
Meanwhile, we have gone into business together and now I make video games with my boy... Totally worth it!

nice..i'm inspired

Wow! That's really nice of you! You had a gorgeous car tho! :)

He's promised to try and replace it

I hope that happens. Update me when it does. :)

@meesterboom Thank you! That's exactly what I was thinking when I was shooting. Years later I am finally sharing the pictures on social media! What better than Steemit to do it eh? :)

No better place!! :0D

My Internet connection is slow, don't know what has happened today but it is not working that fast. So I have tried to open your post more than 3 times but no luck, I can't see the pics. But a few and they look awesome.
The last one is awesome. It looks like you were filming for the movie, "The Godfather".
Will be sure to come back later and check them again.

haha Thanks bro! Maybe you try again today It might open. I have reduced the file size prior to the upload. Please check again :)

Yeah, yesterday I tried it through my mobile internet, and the pics eat up a lot. But it was worth it.

Oh great! Thanks dude!

Seen the pics today again, they are opening easily. You look good in these.

Now that's a nice car. I love cars form this time period. So classy!

Absolutely heart stopping to see this. I tried to buy this model (original black with crimson interior) when I was 20 in Calgary. The bank turned down my loan request yet offered me a loan for a newCorvette...silly banksters.

Sweet ride, thanks for posting @firepower
