Charcoal Drawing and Study of Adele's Eye

Hi Steemians.
I spent almost all my day at home relaxing and enjoying the last 48 hours of 2019. I've seen a total of 6 movies today, read 2 books, made 4 drawings and steemed. For my last drawing today, I did a study of the eye of the Grammy winning singer, Adele. I don't have much of my art materials but I had to improvise to make the drawing come out great. In one of my previous posts, I mentioned that I've been doing some studies on the eye because it is the first point of contact when you look at someone and as an artist, it is important to make sure the eyes are drawn in the right shades and proportions to get the resemblance needed.
The materials used in this drawing are a graphite pencil, charcoal pencil, eraser and a pelican paper.
Here are the steps to the drawing of Adele's eye.
First, I made a free hand sketch of the eye with a graphite pencil

Next, I used the charcoal to draw out the dark areas of her eyes and eyebrows

Lastly, I shaded, blended and added details to the eyes to achieve realism.


I spent about one hour and half on this drawing. Although I feel I didn't achieve a great amount because the materials weren't much.
I'll be having more studies of the eye for a couple of days and hopefully to return to my drawing of portraits soon. Thank you for reading my post and supporting. Happy New Year in advance
