Pokemon Go or Feeding Strays

in #life7 years ago

It started on our yesterday evening walk with my son.
He insisted on taking his phone with him.
After a short inquiry I found the reason....
Pokemon-Go.

"OK" I said. "You can take your phone but I am sure after some walk you will stop looking at it."

So happy, he took his phone and we started walking with Pokemon Go.

As always, I got my small bag of cat food in my pocket.
It did not take long, something like five minutes walk our roads crossed with this sweety.

At first she didn't trust us and hide under the car.
But the temptation of the cat food, when we stepped back by two steps got her out of the safe place.
She was always alert as living in the streets have thought her many things but most importantly one thing.
"Don't trust humans..."

We didn't have the chance to pet her and we decided to leave her tranquile to eat her food.

We continued and the phone got open again in search of "female Pikachu".
( I learned that you can tell a female Pikachu with the heart on her tail ! )

Then a barking is heard.

We saw this braveheart both trying to protect his territory but also having a big temptation to play with somebody.

We put some food just at the border of his territory so that he wouldn't feel us as a threat but someone trying to feed him.
Strategy worked.
He came close wagging his tail, sniffed the food and took a bit.
Then started to lick my son as he reached out to pet him.

It was impossible to take a good picture since everytime I directed the phone, he licked it...
Cleaning the saliva from my phone, we continued.
Away from his territory, he followed us and at some point he stopped.
This was the second boundry for him and out of that he was away from his comfort zone.

As we continue, the female Pikachu was forgotten. The phone was in the pocket and we were searching for new strays to feed.

Soon after, we met this big girl.

We even didn't have to use our food to get friends. She was in need of love. She had love to give and to ready take any love given.
The bond she made with my son was intense.

As coming to the end of our walk, we saw this one.

This one's behaviour was different than the previous one.
Trusting more and getting closer, we assumed that he was not born-stray.

As we came home, the subject my son told her mother was not Pokemon Go but the dogs and cats we met and fed.

Success enough for me.

Stay positive.
