HF 19: How minnows can increase payout for posts < 6 days old

Many of you have noticed the payouts for your blogs and your upvote power changed dramatically since this morning. Since I'm new to Steemit at around a week old, my votes were not much worth much. Before the hardfork, they were worth around 17 cents on full power. After the hardfork, they are worth around $3.40. That is about 20x more! There are tons of posts being written today about that subject, so I won't bore you with that.

What I want to talk about is how to increase payout for posts you have already written. Yes, the hardfork increased the value of your blog posts already, but you can increase them even more.

How do I do this?

Step 1

Find a blog you wrote less than 6.5 days ago and before HF19. Any blogs over 7 days old won't pay the author anything. In the 12 hours leading up to the 7 day mark, you can't vote on your own blog post. Hence, the number is specifically 6.5 days...or 6 days and 12 hours.

Step 2

Write down how much that blog post is worth.

Step 3

Make sure your voting power is at 100% or close to it. You can check your voting power at www.Steemd.com/@yourname

Step 4

Un-vote for your own blog post.

Step 5

Vote for your blog post at full power.

Step 6

Check the total blog post worth compared to what your wrote down in step 2.

Step 7

Up-vote this post and comment below with how much your payouts increased

Note: This will probably not work for Whales

If you have a popular blog post, with a lot of up-votes, you probably don't want to un-vote...doing so will potentially lose out on voting rewards.

If you are a minnow with a new account, then this will help make you a little extra money. For me, the handful of posts I had less than 6 days old, each went up about $2-$3 each. That's not a lot of money, but it's much less depressing than looking at posts worth 50 cents.

I'm not sure if this is by design or if this is a bug. Steemit whales, if this is something I shouldn't be sharing, please let me know and I'll delete this blog. I'm new here, so not 100% sure about Steem-etiquette.
