A New Year's Eve Story!

This is a personal story that happened as the title suggests during the New Year's Eve (2018 to 2019). Before i start my story it's trivial to mention that in Greece we open the presents during the change of the Year and not during Christmas as it is mostly everywhere else. As natural, Santa Claus visit us then and not sooner!

This New Year's Eve followed a similar pattern as always and that is to gather with my family and relatives and have a marvelous feast. This New Year's Eve we had some extra guests and those were the little kids of my uncle. Don't get me wrong they were before too but they were so young that couldn't understand a lot of things. Now not only they could speak they knew who Santa Claus was and they were waiting for him!

My other Uncle decided to make this Year unforgettable to them by disguising himself as the one and only Santa Claus! When we all gathered and after we ate he went outside for a bit to wear his Santa outfit and called me to help him. Imagine that we had 4 different toys for each kid! He went through the window and i took the bags and places them next to him, then got back in the house.

Then someone knocks the window!

We tell to the kids "OH DID YOU HEAR THAT? MAYBE IT'S SANTA GO AND CHECK"

When they first saw "Santa" literally they couldn't move, they were complete surprised and sit there with their mouth opened not knowing how to react. Then after 1 minute one of them runs and brings a cup of water and the other ones a sweet and give them to Santa! Santa give them their presents and ask them if they were good or bad kids, ofc even if you are a child you are not stupid enough to say " I was bad" and receive their presents. The happiness these little kids got was one of a kind, something that money can't buy. Literally, they were more happy seeing Santa than receiving the 4 gifts! 

The Little Details

If you read the story you may thought "ok just a typical story that happens in many houses during that day", you may even witness it or done it yourselves but i am not that simple so there has to be more! The same Uncle was dressing as Santa when me, my siblings and cousin were kids! HOW COOL IS THAT?

Now i got the chance to be behind the scenes and see how this whole thing was set up. My uncle is a veteran in performing Santa by now and i noticed that he was completely shaved in order to wear the fake beard in order to not to show any sign of his real self. He also wore different shoes just in case the kids recognize it and ofc glasses! This scene really traveled me back when i was a child and later on i can say i felt a little bit of that happiness too!
