Review

The idea is taken from Sergio Corbucci's western spaghetti, including the name of the main character, the legendary Django, but if you talk about a director like Quentin Tarantino, surely you know that he never borrowed something just like that. Like his habit, Tarantino always makes his own version with more craziness, satirical humor, long dialogue, revenge and of course a blood spill, just look when he borrows kung-fu and Shaw Brothers trinkets to make an angry The Bride's revenge in the Kill Bill dwilogy, or the last, when he rewrote his own second world war history in the remarkable Inglorious Basterds. So when he then tried to make a cowboy-themed movie of course this would be a different dish than most boring western movies you've seen before.

The premise is simple, a husband looking for his missing wife, but try to add this; Its location in the west and arid, there is a lucky black slave, the free Django (Jamie Foxx) and a bounty hunter with his new best friend, a German dentist, Dr. Schultz is played (again) brilliantly by Chistoph Waltz with his 10-minute opening scene which may only be defeated by his own performance as a Jew Hunter when he interrogates the unfortunate owner of the farm at Inglorious Basterds, Set his own time in 1858, two years before the civil war took place , an era in which everyone would be surprised to see a black man dare to ride a horse. Then there is Leonardo Di Caprio as the owner of the plantation, the cruel Calvin Candie as the bounty hunter duo's goal next because it is believed Candie is the one who owns Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the missing Django's wife.

Equally using history as the backdrop of the story, but unlike Inglorius Basterds with its historical elements, Django Unchained appears purely a setting for simple narration. It's a story about from zero to hero, combining eastern, western or perhaps southern with elements of cowboys, gift hunters, bondage, racism and vengeance in the spirit of modified western spaghetti presented as cool as most Tarantino movies with all the genius editing (though this time without the intervention of Sally Menke, a Tarantino subscriber who died last year) exciting surprises and soundtrack selections, energetic scoring that even sounds wrong but instead makes every moment, and of course you've been waiting for, the high-level hardness element that many involving a lot of blood splattering, hollow bodies and shattered heads, like for example, the best scene that took place at Candie's sister's residence had reminded me a lot when Uma Thurman when she slaughtered the "Crazy 88" at Kill Bill. Vol 1, only this time samurai and kung-fu elements are replaced with many bullet hujanan from gun and revolver with a distinctive western style.

Jamie Foxx could have been lucky to have the main place as Django dominating all the pieces, but the biggest credit was in the cast of his aides. There is Cristoph Waltz who returns to dazzle enliven all the parts with his acting powers, then there is Leonardo Di Caprio who appeared entertaining as a cruel planter employer, brutal Mandingo devotees, even Samuel L. Jackson's brief appearance was no less good, plus do not miss the cameo Tarantino in a funny scene.

Probably not the best Tarantino work you've ever seen, but if you're a fan, it's hard not to fall in love with Django Unchained which is said to be the second part of a trilogy after Inglorious Basterds had started it first. Especially for the size of a western movie commonly used as spectacle number two, Tarantino has done a fantastic effort to raise the prestige of this classic genre in its own way without having to remove the spirit of the hard and hot west, especially you will re-meet with a Christoph Waltz.

I am a big fan of Leonardo DiCaprio, that is one of the main reasons I chose to watch this movie, the other is that I really enjoy the atmosphere of western themed movies. His acting in this movie really impressed me, because it made me hate his character, despite me loving other characters that he played in the movies.

Great review keep it up :D
