The McLaren Renault Formula 1 team presented the MCL33-B chassis for this season at the FIA's routine review of the cars for the 2018 Spanish Grand Prix. A total revolution of the car with which they started the season and with which they hope to approach the leaders of the championship.

The new MCL33-B is here to stay and take a step forward

Yesterday, the F1 paddock turned its attention to the orange team's box, whose official presentation of the new version of its MCL33 chassis surprised everyone and extended the checks of the regulatory body of the Pinnacle of World Motorsport. The MCL33-B features major modifications to this new aerodynamic package that, although it should have been released in the last Chinese GP, has come to surprise after extensive reviews for correlation problems between track data and the wind tunnel, to give the Asturian driver Fernando Alonso and the Belgian Stoffel Vandoorne a gain of approximately half a second per lap, which would place him in the fight to lead half the grid and approach the three teams at the front (Ferrari, Mercedes and RedBull).

The most notable changes to the MCL33-B are:

The revolutionary and spectacular front wing, together with the front wing's aspirator nose, inspired by the RedBull's design, as well as the new side deflectors that replace the new ones in the Bahrain GP, the deflectors under the nose, new air ducts for the brakes, aerodynamic solutions in the engine cover, an improvement he shares with the Renault team at the engine level, which turns out to be an update from its fuel supplier, BP Castrol, which estimates gains of up to one tenth per lap, and a renewed and improved floor of the team's Zak Brown-led car, which in the run-up to the last Grand Prix in Baku announced the departure of one of its Aerodynamics Chiefs, Tim Goss

Fernando Alonso is happy with the new McLaren Updates

The McLaren Renault driver, Fernando Alonso, after the first two Free Practice sessions of the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix 2018, has shown his optimism for the arrival of the new parts of his car, which represents a new start for this season with the renewed MCL33-B. "Everything's been working out. The parts have responded positively and we feel more grip on the car. Besides the nose, there are many other new pieces that are giving the expected results, so we hope to enter the Q3 tomorrow. In the past Grand Prix we saw it quite difficult, but now we see it closer this weekend, as we feel better performances" said the Spaniard.
