Bitcoin wallets: wich one should you choose?

in #bitcoin9 years ago

Here you are a list of the Bitcoin wallets I'm currently using or testing. Do you use any of them?

So, you bought some Bitcoin on an exchange, such as Coinbase, and now you want to store your precious cryptocurrency in a safe wallet. Here you can find a list of the most famous wallets available.

If you own more than 1 BTC (it's more than 2000$), I suggest you to buy a hardware wallet, like the Ledger Nano S, as it's safer than any other computer program.

Electrum

Electrum is an open source wallet, available on Windows, Linux, MacOS and Android. While it is not so newbie-friendly, I think it is one of the most secure wallet for your computer. It is currently my main wallet, where I store most of my BTCs.
You can create different wallet, both single and multi-signature, and make backups using a 12-words passphrase.

Copay

Made by the BitPay team, Copay was the first wallet I installed on my mobile phone. It's pretty simple to use and has a great user interface. It supports the creation of multi-signature wallets and works with the same 12-words passphrase I mentioned before.

Jaxx

Yes, I'm aware of the recently-discovered issues with Jaxx but I don't care, since I'm the only one having physical access to my personal computer. Created by Decentral, Jaxx is a multi-currency wallet currently supporting BTC, LTC, ETH, ETC, DOGE, DASH and many other cryptocurrencies. It is integrated with Shapshift, making converting from an asset to another really simple.

So, tell me: what is your favorite wallet? Feel free to tell me your opinion in the comments below and don't forget you should never keep your Bitcoin on an exchange!

very helpfull, I am new to cryptocurrency and bitcoins and still hesitating which wallet choose. Which one will you recommend for a beginner ?

The best one, in my opinion, is Electrum, even if you may need to read the documentation. For a basic use it's quite simple, but it also has advanced features a new user may not need.

Thanks, I will have a look at It

Ciao Fede, io sto usando Coinbase adesso.
