Winter rainbow. In Christmas Muscovites witnessed a rare phenomenon!
Users of social networks are divided into frames of a rare atmospheric phenomenon, which can be today seen in the sky over Moscow and the region. Eyewitnesses called it a miracle, and Christmas, and winter rainbow, but in fact we are talking about the halo effect
A rare optical phenomenon - Halo - seen in the sky of the capital region residents on Saturday, Jan. 7. The luminous ring around the sun was due to severe frosts.
In the skies over Dmitrov and Klin district appeared a few extra sun images. Such a phenomenon occurs in extreme cold due to the refraction of sunlight particles of ice falling into the atmosphere. Ice crystals reflect light and form, this phenomenon, which is also referred to as "false" the sun.
According to experts, the cold can also cause another unusual and beautiful phenomenon - "light columns" (Halo variety). They are formed when hard frost as a result of the reflection of sunlight and the lights of the big city of microscopic ice particles in the air. "Light towers" observed over Moscow on the night before Christmas in 2015, and in January 2014, when the air temperature was well below minus 20 degrees. In the Moscow region, Sergiev Posad, "light columns" seen in December 2016.
Who has seen and who with Moscow, share impressions of the phenomenon.
