Are you a Steemian that checks people's wallet or posts and get jealous? Of course we can be curious every now and then of how much someone has in his/her wallet or posts. This is not called jealousy, but curiosity. You become jealous when you have this look like Jim Carrey while looking at someone's wallet or posts payouts.

When you are jealous, you will feel very down and maybe lose your self-esteem. You think what ever you are posting here on this platform will not be seen by other people and get even more frustrated when you just receive a few cents. I have been in this situation too when I started. I made a layer cake that took me a few hours to make and showed detailed steps. For this post I got only 4 cents. I quit for 8 months.

Then my husband was disturbing me with showing his post pay outs and I got even more frustrated because I had difficulties finding a job. Looking at his post pay outs felt as if he was showing off :-D. My husband said something tough to me. He said that I should stop being so negative and start posting on Steemit. I asked him what I should post about. I really didn't have any clue. I tell you, I was sitting in front of my laptop, thinking LONG what I should post about. I just didn't have any idea! That is what many people who start here on Steemit also experience.

The thing is many people are like a needle in a haystack. There are more and more people joining this platform. So it is now even more difficult to get noticed compared to 1,5 years ago when Steemit just existed. Being jealous of someone whether it's because of the financial status or the looks of some one, can be frustrating but it can also give you inspiration. It can give you inspiration of how to make better posts, or it can give you ideas about what topics your posts could be. Especially with @smartsteem, @dtube and @steepshot now, you can get noticed by more people.

There are enough reasons not to be jealous of other Steemians:

1. You are unique

You are unique and you have your own talents. Maybe you don't know your talents yet or maybe you know, but don't want to share with other steemians because you are afraid what other people think. Maybe you think that post will look stupid. Don't think too much what other people might think. You don't know what other people are thinking about your posts. Try to overcome your insecurities. In Dutch we have a saying: " Niet geschoten is altijd mis." That means that when you don't try, you will never find out. So if you have a hobby, just share it with us. Just post about anything what is coming in your mind.

2. Money isn't everything

Yes, we are all here for the money. Who ever says he/she is not for the money is a liar. If you are not for the money here on Steemit, then just remove your post pay outs right? Or just stay with Facebook. So yes, we are all here for the money. It doesn't mean that when you become a Steemit millionaire that all your problems will fade away. Ok, maybe the financial problems. But who says that those Steemit millionaires don't have any other problems in their life?

Maybe they have other problems in life, which they of course would not share with us. Maybe they divorced, maybe they are ill, or have ill children. Maybe they have a huge debt and try to pay off their debt with Steem money or maybe they being threatened by other people in real life because they know the millionaire have a lot of money. We all don't know and we all have our own problems. Even millionaires have personal problems. They might have problems that we don't want to have. Millionaires can have depression too. Look at Hollywood celebrities, almost every celebrity deals with depression.

3. Jealousy is a waste of time

Think of all the things you could do if you wouldn't be jealous. You would probably do more fun things with other people in real life or have a productive day and feel happy and satisfied. Weren't you already happy before you started here on Steemit?

4. Being jealous doesn't change your situation

Your situation will not get any better by being jealous. So get rid of this jealousy and focus on your self. No, it doesn't make you a self-centered person :-D.

5. It makes you less grateful

Jealousy makes you less grateful for the things in life. Just think of the things that go so well with you:

Your health, your family, a roof above your head, a loving partner and you having an amazing personality! I would say health is the most important thing followed by a great personality to feel blessed. I am blessed I am a healthy woman, having healthy kids and having a lovely husband :-).
