Prince Charles
The time I got to shoot Prince Charles.
I was booked to shoot an event with a few other photographers, mostly from the press. I am an art photographer and I just love my trusty 1.2 art lens and natural light, to the side of me are these three photographers with huge lenses, flash rings.... the works. They looked at me, a girl with high heels and a camera with no flash and my 1.2 lens and one said are you going to be ok with that? I was like yeah sure. I later posted the photos and someone on my facebook saw them and said they were really great and they had a contact for the Palace, my agent got in touch sent them the images and they ended up using this one for an official image and it went in a number of GQ magazines from around the world, I'll try to dig one of the copies out and attach the image when I can find it.
The moral of this story is, as an artist, you just have to trust your own vision and not get focused on what you don't have or how others are doing things. You have to stay true to your style for that is where the magic is. I often see photographers with heaps of expensive equipment thinking that it's going to make them create better pictures, but nothin could be further from the truth. I believe you can capture the most beautiful images with the most simple set up. I hope to run a few compeittions when I have built this page up that challenge creativity with minimal tools....more to come in the future on that.
