In addition to being the seat of the city government of Banda Aceh, it is also the center of all economic, political, social and cultural activities. The Sultanate of Aceh Darussalam was built on the ruins of previously existing Hindu and Buddhist kingdoms, such as the Indra Purba Kingdom, Indra Purwa Kingdom, Indra Patra Kingdom, Indrapuri Kingdom (Indrapuri).

From the tomb of Sultan Firman Syah, one of the sultans who once ruled the Sultanate of Aceh, obtained information that the Sultanate of Aceh is capitalized in Kutaraja. In addition, another tombstone was found in Kuta Alam, which is the tomb of Sultan Ali Mughayat Syah's father, Syamsu Syah, who mentioned that Syamsu Shah died on Muharram 737 Hijriah. Another tombstone found in Kuta Alam is the tomb of King Ibrahim who later discovered that he was the younger brother of Sultan Ali Mughayat Shah.

Sultan Iskandar Muda made Banda Aceh a world park, starting from the palace complex. The palace complex of the Sultanate of Aceh is also named Dar'ad-Dunnia (World Park). The book of Bustanus Salatin completed by Nur al-Din Ar-Raniry in 1636 mentions that the eastern part of the Aceh Palace is a vast park. In the center of the park has been ordered to be dug up a river that was built into a bathhouse, with a cliff with a stone and has a water shower vessel.

Within the park are four monuments: (1) Chinese architectural buildings constructed by experts from China and named Chinese Hall as a symbol of the special relationship between the Sultanate of Aceh and the Chinese Empire; (2) a banquet building for a state guest named Balai Gading; (3) Balai Kembang Cahaya; and (4) Golden Hall for resting. The central part of the park is a mountain-shaped monument, now known as the 9-meter-tall, 9-meter-tall Gunongan, which has a cave-like door. At its side is a carved stone with an arabesque motif on the banks of the river where the daughter washes her hair (called peterana Kembang Lela Mashadi).
The manuscript of Bustanus Salatin also mentions that within the park and near the river there is a carved monument of seroja and indigo flowers for the Sultan's inauguration named Peterana Kembang Seroja. The gateway entering the park is called the community by the name of Pinto Khob.

The Khop door building is made of limestone with a cavity as a door and a bow-shaped ceiling to traverse in the east and west direction. The upper part of the entrance is decorated with two crossed stalks, giving rise to a fantasy (effect) of a face figure with eyes and nose and the door cavity as the mouth.
