Assalam-u-alaikum I am Faizan, a 20 year old Pakistani student. I have spent all of my life in Pakistan in the city of Karachi. My grandfather migrated to Pakistan in the year 1947 leaving his wealth and relatives for the sake of independence and migration to this holy land where we can practically follow our religion and lead our lifestyles independent of any external or societal pressure. So in my family, everyone has that patriotic enthusiasm in their genes for this country. I also have love and patriotism for my motherland but that does not mean that I should not criticize or point out the wrongs in the country that are slowly devastating the roots of the country and needed to be changed. Let's first look into the reasons why I love Pakistan.

Three Reason To Love Pakistan

Empathy

In the pre-modern era, people used to die of hunger, but as science progressed humans became capable of generating a surplus in food, as I paraphrase from the book "HomoDeus" by "Yuval Noah Harari"

more people are dying of obesity than hunger in today's world.

This line is so true in a city like Karachi. Here many NGOs are working day and night to serve the Creation of Allah. I remember when the COVID-19 broke out, there was a complete lockdown. Daily wagers are left with no options to fulfill their needs. In those trying times the nation remained steadfast. Anybody who could help helped. Tons of ration bags are distributed all over the city catering to millions.

Programs like Ehsaas were also launched by the government to relieve the public. This feeling of empathy towards others is one of the core qualities of the people of this nation. No wonder the legends like Abdul Sattar Edhi were produced by this motherland. Edhi created the largest network of private ambulances serving humankind 24/7 in disasters and adversities.

Hospitality

The people of this region are always known for their hospitality, especially the tribal people. Adding to that cultural perspective of guests, the religion also promotes hospitality. People in this country always try to serve the guests to the best of their abilities. Many YouTubers across the world visited the country and expressed this quality of Pakistanis. People offer free food and gifts to the visitors and give them love and affection which is very rare in the urban modern world.

Beautiful Landscape

Almighty Allah has blessed my country with every season and quite diverse terrain. You can find coasts, seashores, deserts, mountains, rocky hills, valleys, plains, fields, and whatnot.

Mountains of Himalayan Range

The Himalayan range is one of the biggest mountain ranges, and there exists the second highest peak K-2.

Balochistan is the largest province of Pakistan by area. It is mostly dry and very less populated.

Three Changes I want to see in Pakistan

Corruption

Corruption is one of the things that plays the leading role in devastating the roots of any country. Due to a lack of order and weak constitutional institutions, people do corruption because they know they will get off with it. In the 2018 elections, the main motto of the elected government was to get rid of the dacoits and corruption in the country. We saw some steps taken towards the right path in recent years like NAB cases but still, there is more work to do in this niche.

Illiteracy

For the development of any country, education plays a very pivotal role. Unfortunately, in Pakistan, only a small number of students end up studying in universities due to a lack of resources or family problems. There are a lot of ghost schools in rural areas of Sindh and Punjab. Being from the largest city, I also see this scenario of poor education. The standard of government schools is nowhere near that of private schools. Due to the privatization of education and no check and balance in government schools, people are not able to send their children to expensive schools. I hope that I may see this change in my lifetime when Pakistan will be fully illiterate like first-world countries.

Politics

At the time I am writing this post, there is a political crisis going on in the country. The 22nd elected prime minister like all before him was no table to complete his tenure. Recently handsome PM Imran Khan was sacked by the vote of no-confidence and the same old families who are ruling the country for decades are now again in power. The irony of the situation is that people in the parliament have serious corruption allegations against them. But now we are hopeful as awareness is now increasing in the youth who don't support the corrupt and want change. They now want a leader who can stand accountable to them for what he does. I hope that I'll see an elected PM complete his tenure one day in this country.
