May Day is commemorated every May 1st.
In Indonesia the labor day warning was banned in the era of President Soeharto. Labor Day returned to a national holiday when President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono set it in 2014.

How was the beginning of May 1st celebrated as a labor day?
May Day has a long history. Born out of various stages of the working class struggle after the industrial revolution. Workers are forced to work up to 16 hours a day. In some places there are forced to work up to 19 hours a day in factories.

On May 1, 1886, a number of Trade Unions in the United States held a massive demonstration to demand the enactment of 8 hours of work every day as well as a decent wage increase. This action takes place simultaneously across the country. No less than 100,000 workers followed the mass strike.
This action lasts for days. On May 4 evening, in Haymarket Square in Chicago, a number of activists are still performing the oration alternately. Initially there were 3,000 people there. But with the heavy rain, at ten o'clock, only hundreds of workers survived.
Then about 180 police came to the location of the workers gathered. The atmosphere heats up. Activists try to explain if they are running a peaceful action. But police insist on dismissing them.
"On behalf of the law, I ask you to disband," said Police Inspector John Bonfield, pointing at the crowd.
"It was then that a bomb suddenly exploded near the police ranks.67 officers were wounded in the attack while seven policemen were killed, officers began firing on the demonstrators, injuring 200 people and killing several people," the TIME magazine described.
The bomb was later identified as an assembled bomb made of dynamite and filled with sharp metal pieces. As soon as it exploded, metal pieces instantly kicked off several policemen. This is reciprocated by a barrage of shots towards the masses.
Then four people were killed from the ranks of the workers. No fewer than 100 people were detained. It is not known clearly who threw a grenade at the police. Events in Chicago was later known by the Incident Haymarket or Haymarket riots.
The 1889 International Socialist Conference then established massive demonstrations in the US and Canada and the Haymarket incident as a momentum for the struggle of the workers. The beginning of the action of 1 May 1886, designated as International Labor Day.
Since then the labor day is celebrated worldwide on May 1st
