Cybercrime is on the rise. And with Cryptocurrencies, Digital Wallets and Untraceable transactions, it is quite easy for hackers and scammers to infiltrate your account/wallet and steal your hard earned crypto. Worst part is (or best part depending on whose side you're on) they get away unscathed!

Steemit, however, uses not just 1 key but 5 keys! This greatly reduces the risk of your account falling into the hands of hackers and scammers. This improves the security levels on the Steemit platform and makes it a safe space for all content creators.

The 5 different keys are as follows

The Posting Key: This can be used regularly to log into your Steemit account to perform actions such as posting, commenting, blogging and voting.

The Private Memo: This can be used to decrypt private transfer memos.

The Private Active: This can be used for all wallet related functions e.g powering STEEM up and down.

The Private Owner Key: This can be used to reset all your other keys. You are not to use this key to login as it may lead to your account being compromised. If your account has been hacked, you may use this key to regain access.

The Public Keys: These are used to encrypt or verify messages. Your public keys are not required for login.

STEEMIT WALLET

This is almost similar to other cryptocurrency wallets only that it includes the concept of having 3 sub-wallets all tied to STEEM.

STEEM Wallet: For STEEM coin
STEEM Power Wallet: For STEEM power
SBD Wallet: For Steem Based Dollar

TRANSFER OF STEEM/SBD

To transfer STEEM or SBD:

Open your Profile
Click on the 'Wallet' button
Click on the 'Options' button on the STEEM balance
Select Transfer
When the second frame pops up, click on the 'Next' button and handle your transactions
Make sure you used the private key to log in.

POWERING UP STEEM

To Power Up STEEM:

Open your Profile
Click on the 'Wallet' button
Click on the 'Options' button on the STEEM balance
Select the 'Power Up' button
Put in the required details in the second frame Your STEEM has been powered up
