Fun of the fair
Light Painting on a hillside just after sunset with a child's play tent and some lights.
I remember the night well as the sunset was an absolute beauty. My friend Paul and I headed up to The Snake Pass to do some light painting.
I had my son's little big top with me as I had earlier discovered that my dome tool would fit inside. A dome tool is a bike wheel with leds around the perimeter and a pole through the middle. When you spin it around it creates this beautiful dome shape made of light.
I composed my shot paying extra attention to the position of the moon and the tent and started the exposure. I climbed in the tent and span the dome and then climbed out again. I moved out of frame and lit the foreground with a high powered torch from low to the ground, so as to create some extra texture to the grass.
I then let the camera sit and expose a while longer to add some ambient light to the shot.
I did some minor adjustments to the raw file but what you see here is a single long exposure without the use of Photoshop.
Any questions about any of the techniques in my shots feel free to ask.
Happy days.
